Hallo everyone!

I have a little question which I wanted to ask at the official AF forum at frugals world, but can't get registered there, althogh I use gmail, which was banned for no reason
So I am going to ask it here

When you break the radar lock in BVR and missile lock (radar guided),
in ACMI tapes it shows that the missile lock still stays on, even thought your RWR tells you the opposite. Same thing with heat seeking missiles. Impossible to break the lock.
Is this the way it is modelled (actually NOT modelled, or modelled not very correctly)in AF?
So really there is no lock breaking happening?

This was actually reported by a friend of mine, that did numerous tests last year with ACMI, I didn't personally check it, but trust my friend's words. And he also said FF had it modelled more correctly, where missile actually did loose you and went after flares or chaff, and also could regain the lock

Mind I am just a beginner in Falcon, just asking questins. screwy

ACMI has "lock line" and "lock range" option from a/c to a/c. I didn't know it displayed lock infromation from missile to a/c.

And I can't get a frug account. frown

Probably a work around for the AI, the lock line might mean not that he is actually locked on to you, but more like you're the target he's currently attacking. I wouldn't worry too much about that, if it's working correctly in-game then that's it wink

Okey, might be nothing serious. I am going to do some testing myself in AF and FF and see if there is a difference.

It's my understanding that flares and chaff have zero effect under 9000ft. Your a/c is just too big/hot for the missile to lose lock.

AF has it implemented properly, you can break radar lock and missle lock by beaming, chaff, flares, ect. The missile will go ballistic and possibly reaquire the original target or a friendly one if they stray into it's field of vision.

the "lock lines" in ACMI are not really radar lock lines, its just to give info that AC is focused on a object.
Active missile are much harder to break lock than SARH missiles
