Sounds like lawnmower wars and looks like a swarm of (rather slow) mosquitoes, I can now understand why they called it the flying circus. biggrin

Could be interesting though.

Lawnmower wars, that is a good one! smile

Yup, to the Raptor and the Su-27 weve sure come a long way. And in less than a hundred years.

BTW, here is another screen-shot, showing the excellent modelling of the SPAD XIII, mount of several US aces. The pilot even twists and turns in his seat, and he can make hand signals...

I really have a fondness for the WWI sims.

Have they changed their mind about their business plan yet ?
This sim does look very good though and I will definitely try the demo when it comes out.

Hmm, hand signals ? That's great but I'm fearing it will require pretty high-end system specs even for now, just to be run at a level of detail that'd allow the player to notice those signs from a distance. Still much better than having radio comms !

Cheers

Nico

Hand signals AND flares, I forgot to mention that. But then there will probably also be simmers who will use the teamspeak cheat... smile

That's ok because the TS cheat balances out the handicap of having to fly a plane while staring at a 2D monitor surface. wink

Nah, no good, we don't want any ahistorical radio comms...

I can accept a morse option, though, if you fly a two-seater artillery observation plane trailing a long cable antenna for the wireless. F12-button as the morse key smile

I haven't done much reading up on this title yet but I have read that there will be no offline play. It's not clear to me what that means. Will there be any single player mode or is it strictly multiplayer? Will there be any AI controlled planes or will every plane be controlled by a player?

You can read much more in the RoF forum. There will be single-player play against AI planes, but for DRM purposes and to keep player stats, you will need to be online and send a few packets of data at the beginning and end of missions. So single-player, but internet connex needed.

It is being discussed in the "Copyright and DRM" forum that has been set up recently here at SimHQ, so that is the proper place to go for discussions on that.

Who's going to have the first full-realism ladder where the rules are no teamspeak, no external views, no pilot aids of any kind, and dead-is-dead scoring?

Miao, Cat

That, Cat, sounds like just the right kind of way to play this sim. And if it gets sufficiently popular there should be new games starting up every ten minutes, so "dying" wouldn't ruin a whole evening of play.

Ah, the old Spartan reply smile

"Even during her decline, Sparta never forgot its claims on being the "defender of Hellenism" and its Laconic wit. An anecdote has it that when Philip II sent a message to Sparta saying "If I enter Laconia, I will level Sparta to the ground," the Spartans responded with the single, terse reply: "If""

Oh, no ! I was convinced that these dead-end rivers were REAL part of the Ukraine or Russia,LOL...seems they exported them to France now...IMHO, they would have better use their talent and imagination making the landscape more realistic than creating us difficulies with this story of internet connection!
