This is a Hickok Electrical Instrument Co. aircraft ammeter Type D2, part number 5663, in original box, manufactured on August 25th, 1942. As described on outside of box. Difficult to see on the front of the gauge, in tiny black letters: "A.C.U.S. ARMY TYPE D-2 MFG'S. PART NO. 5663" Although it says ARMY TYPE D-2 on the gauge, the box is marked on the top with a US Navy Anchor. In red letters on back of gauge: USE WITH EXTERNAL SHUNT. I have not tested this, and it appears unused, but it shows very light wear from handling over the last 82 years. The rim of the front of the gauge is 2 1/2" in diameter.
