Heh. I am not sure they know what science fiction really is.

That goes for international movies as well.

I bought 76 at the end of March... didn't think I'd like playing it online, but I'm quite enjoying it...

Aside from the month you bought it, I could have written the same post. What's your handle in the game Troop?

ExitOversteer here, and if you see me or my camp drop on by!

Well we obviously think so, but I know others who don't like it at all. Hard to say if you would like it, but it's free so why not give it a go?

To be fair I would recommend Fallout 4 ahead of FO76 for a player new to the series, but both are good and if you like one you'll probably like the other. I happen to really dig the whole Fallout vibe and have since FO3 came out fifteen years ago. But you may not.

Thanks Bond, I am downloading 76 now, It´s free on Amazon Prime Games which I wasn't subed to, prime games that Is. So all well there, and for the asking price of FO4 on Steam, will buy that too.

Fallout 4 is a purely single player experience so as DBond mentioned, you should probably start off with that one so you can learn about the Fallout universe and the gameplay tactics and mechanics at your own pace.

Fallout 76 does have a story-driven single player mode but it's not completely separated from the multiplayer world. What I mean by that is that you can be making your way to a destination to investigate an objective for one of your quests but you can still run into other human players along the way.

Thanks to both, yes definitely will try out FO4 first but FO76 Is tempting with you all out there biggrin

I´ll be a good chap though and go for FO4 first when MS FO76 stops hogging my bandwidth and let´s me buy It!

The more the merrier. If you start 76 and need anything don't hesitate to ask. And that means advice, gear, food, medical supplies or whatever. We are a generous bunch biggrin

Hopped on tonight, new weeklies so was able to rank up the scoreboard a few times. Many low levels on the map which is cool. It probably won't last and mostly because its free to play I reckon. But good to see new players giving it a go.

I've just about hit the bullion cap which is 10k. What are the best things to buy with it? I have a backpack, armor, armor mods.

I should add that when I said people should join us it isn't really literally so. I mean, we don't play together all that often, more like we run in to each other, or are making a requested item drop. This game has no chat, voice or text. I think it's rather brilliant, but makes doing things together harder. I say it's brilliant because there no real way to be a douchebag. You can't insult someone's mom, or call them names, brag, or question someone's sexuality. So it sort of forces everyone to be chill. You can't just waste other players, so there's not much PvP except for those looking for it and they find each other. The rest of us can just go around in peace. Now, the people might just be a friendly bunch, but personally I think the design decision to have no chat contributes quite a bit to the friendly vibe in 76. As far as online shooter style games go, FO76 is far and away the friendliest community I've found.

Panzer has suggested on several occasions that we should get together and do something and I'm all for it, if I'm free when the time rolls around. What's the best method for following a friend who is fast traveling? I guess I can go to the menu and click on their name and join them? Anyway if it's not too much hassle to stick together I'm game.

Mothman Equinox might be my favorite event. I'll be sorry to see it go. Assuming it is limited time?

A couple of days ago I saw some lower leveled than me and decided to give away a flamer abd a Fixer. I thought that would help them on their way in the same way that DBond did to me some time ago.

It was almost moving to watch their gratitude. smile

I could do the same if some forum members need something better equipment. Just ask and I will see what I can do. I have learned It is in the spirit of the game to do the same.

With regards to voice. If you are in a team I have heard people talk to each other. Once I heard some germans talk to each other about their personal problems. Probably an alternative way of dating if I understood them right. biggrin

Once a guy in my team asked for a certain power armor item. So it can be done.

Haha, I'm a dumbass. Yes, of course it has voice chat, but I turned that off like second day and just posted here about how it doesn't exist. Thanks Wigean, you are correct of course. What was I thinking?

Nice story about your generosity. Yesterday I dropped a bunch of full fusion cores in the community crates. Maybe someone will come along and be happy.

I remember this topic being discussed before. The best things are the plans that you can only buy with gold and more specifically power armor and regular armor plans. Have you visited Regs recently at Vault 69? He has tons of armor and weapon plans that he sells for gold.

Not in a while. I'm at 9500 bullion so need to spend some of it. Nothing I want really.

It was a really good week for my Handmade Rifle Shop. Must have sold twenty rifles.

Hit like rank 33 on the scoreboard, the weeklies were good for me, easy to hit and things I'd be doing anyway. Sad to see Mothman go, I like that one.

I think I posted here about my ideas for FO76 events, how I want something like capture the flag, a big, long event area where the players have to move forward, battling the waves of enemies to reach the goal on the other side. Existing events are what I would call 'arena' events, everything concentrated in a small space. I'd like to see events that require more teamwork, fire and maneuver, and ones where the strength of each 'class' of player can be useful. Heavies at the van, mediums backstopping, snipers covering, stealth players infiltrating. Mothman is not this, but the fact it takes place in a town, with the enemies assaulting in different locations gives it a bit of the feel I want. Just a touch of it but I like it. The narration is well done, the entire vibe of the event is good in my view. Maybe the rewards aren't great but I have gobs of stuff.

I'm still at a very lowly rank as you can imagine... I'm just 'Trooper' in the game... I'm not religiously following any set mission, mainly just exploring the map and having fun.
Confusing with the ranking up and perk system though, seems convoluted to me.

I'll keep an eye out for you. If someone is suddenly standing in front of you and saluting it is probably me.

If you have any questions about the perk system feel free to ask. I think it is great, as you aren't committed to any build, and can swap the cards in and out as you want. Very flexible and potentially very powerful.

My suggestion is to identify which class of weapon you want to main, and then build out your character with good synergy to mamimize damage and survivability. In the early game your perks are limited and you don't want to be too scattered. Later on when you're level 200 you can have multiple builds. But until then you'll want to specialize I think. Personally I run a stealth commando grenadier build, using automatic rifles and explosives, so my perks are chosen to maximize these weapons. What you don't want to do, in my view, is mix it all up and run a couple pistol perks, a couple heavy weapons, a semi-auto and an automatic, all of which just waters you down and you don't excel with any of them.

When I was starting out I relied on this build planner a lot. What I wanted to know was which perks would unlock on which level, so I could know ahead of time which one I would pick when I leveled up.
