Tried to play GoG version, and seemed the game needed a wrapper prog to make all screens work. Abesnt such a wrapper prog, the menu screens were unusable. Haven't tried Steam version yet.
I had no trouble installing and running both of the GoG releases. Everything that was needed was there, this is the folder The "dinput.dll" needs to be removed as it causes joystick problems

Until recently I have been using nGlide (because it was good for Hind and RB3D too). Zeckensack's was OK for EAW as well. Now I found that dgVoodoo2 is the best: it is capable of running EAW in d3d with horizon fog in full HD; have not tried it in glide mode yet.

At some stage in the development of UAW "Zeus" (who writes and produces nGlide) modified our source code so that it could use Glide 3. This gave our exe the ability to load and display 512x512 BMP files as aircraft, TMOD and terrain textures in Glide mode. The only condition was that the eaw.ini had to be set to 1024x768 resolution. The nGlide resolution could still be set to suit the users' screens.
I am unsure of any requirements that may be needed by nGlide when it is used with EAW versions that are only programmed to use Glide 2.
I just did a check of my source code folders. The "glide.h" file needs to be used, and after checking I found that there are only two versions. One is the original dated 17th June 1998, and the other is dated 5th August 2015. This suggests that the latter is the one made when the Glide 3 code was added, and that exes compiled before that date do not have it.
