Pretty much like every zoombie film you have seen, they are out there and there number are growing. You get to pick one gun from an Weapons Cache, every gun is there and you get to pick one but only one and you wont be able to change it either. What do you pick, your expecting to hold positions, move through towns, and generally make sure you dont get eaten :-) When you pick your gun you will be given enough ammo to stop a third world army single handly so your good there. M16 with some kind of scope? A hand gun ? A Shotgun? You fancy a sniper rifle to thin the crowd :-) Whats your Weapon of choice, and its going to get hairy so be sure of your pick Bud

When you run out of fuel after 300 miles you better hope you can swing round enough with the top gun other wise the hatch is going to be tested, I guess you could hold up in a defensive position but then your stuck there. You could ram a crowd of Zoombies at 45mph that would have to outway any fuel concerns. I vote your choice superia over the m16 although its close. I was just thinking there can not be many rifles that can handle constant fire say 2000 rounds let of (if you were being innudated with zoombies) that would not over heat, even a gun designed for maximum cooling would have to have limits. I think if you were alone and tasked with protecting yourself vs many thosands of Zoombies not only would the gun choice be paramount and I think a Mordern gun would have to be picked for cooling ability but tatics would be even more important, you could have the best gun in the world but if you get yourself into a spot were 5000 Zoombies are heading your way and your gun over heats your toast. Holding a fort with a mini gun like that gatling gun is a good idea thou but what about if you need move out to meet other patches of humanity..

M249. You don't want to snipe at zombies that are in the distance, that just attracts more of them. And you better believe they know how to home in on a gunshot in the distance. It's not like there is a zombie officer you need to take out to disrupt command and control, this is a good ol' soviet style mass horde attack.
I'm taking the SAW. What you need is something that will sweep a hallway, sewer tunnel, or airliner fuselage in a hurry and when the going gets tough, the tough go cyclic. Let er RRRRIIP!
If you are talking any weapon of war, then I'm guessing an AH64 would do the trick, provided you have a CP/G with you. Hellfire's ain't gonna help much unless the zombies have taken over a bunch of T-72s, but a full load of hydras and some 30mm rounds should make a hole, plus you have the ability to land on rooftops and malls to hole up for the night.
If you can find one still around, a WWII Flammpanzer would probably hold its own as well.

While I'm all in favor of a thread dealing with the real world threat of zombie invasion, let us not forget the first option.
RUN AWAY!
This is where my new and improved zombie detector comes in. A deceiving simple unit which runs on 2 AA batteries, it finds zombies within a proven radius of 1 mile and alerts you to their presence with a beeping alarm, which turns into a squawking "ZOMBIE! ZOMBIE..." if you don't acknowledge the beeping within 5 minutes.
There's a handy zombie direction needle on the top so you know which way to run to and which way to avoid running to.
Take an M-16 with you on your run, sure. But run. And be sure to take your pets with you. Nothing is worse than returning home after a night of zombies and finding your cat or dog is not who they were the night before.
Oh, only $99.95, and I'll include a special zombie identification chart with 17 of the most dangerous and common zombies.
Don't wait, order today!

2 smalls sound box, one cd player and a roberto carlos cd, no zombie can withstand that, and off course lots of energizer battery, and problably a homemade solar battery.

Depends what kind of zombies, if its the Romero kind, either fast or slow, I could just go around eliminating them at my leisure with the weapons I've got on hand, the only thing I'd wish for is more ammo and some food stores.
If we're talking supernaturally smart, animal infecting zombies ala Brian Keene, then nothing short of having some late mark Bolo tanks in my arsenal is likely to do me any good.

My gut reaction and one that I thought would be a no-brainer would be to select a SAW, but think about carrying that beast around all day, every day. Kind of sobering, isn't it? The stock M249 comes in at a whopping 22lbs, and even though the M249 SPW weighs in at 13 lbs, that's still too much for me to cope with on a daily basis. One would need to be mobile and be able to bring the weapon to bear quickly, and keep in mind you need head shots to take out zombies, so pray and spray tactics would be intimidating but ultimately useless. And don't neglect factoring in ammo. How many rounds of SAW ammo do you want to lug around?
The best choice is a weapon that is lightweight, small enough for close quarters but also accurate at long ranges with a great reliability and one that has ammo readily available. If I have to face zombies and could only choose one weapon, I'll take an M4A1 with an ACOG gunsight.
