Stalling the Emil all the time

Stalling the Emil all the time - 07/17/11 12:23 AM

I`m at a loss here, even when really light on the stick (TM Afterburner), I`m getting into a stall all the time. Most of it, I`m even not able to execute an Immelmann. What am I doing wrong? I have the feeling, the stick is too responsive.

I'm the wrong guy to respond here -- I've not flown the 109 in CoD and I don't know what other flight sims you have flown. Are these accelerated stalls you've gotten into (ie relatively high speed - high "g" - high angle of attack) or are you having trouble getting up to speed after take off?

Any kind of information regarding the above will be helpful to someone else better able than me to answer.

Good luck!

I`m one Il-2 "veteran" from the demo days, even though I`m mostly flying FSX nowadays.

The point is, when I`m coming up to hard manoeuvering, the kite stalls very easily, even though I`m not pulling the stick very hard. So I guess it`s something up the settings of the axis.

The 109 should be fairly resistant to stalling - the stick is fairly 'heavy' by early war fighter standards - the Spitfire and Hurricane were very poor in pitch response to stick force, being far too sensitive to be considered 'acceptable'.

In addition, the leading edge slats on the outer wing should be forcing a root first stall (benign), and giving acceptable aileron authority beyond initial stall, where a hard wing stalls first outboard due to aileron deflection.
The use of non-twisted section, gives good basic stall character, and drag is acceptable (2-3% above minimum induced drag). By comparison the 'ideal' planform of the Spitfire has to be twisted to give even tolerably acceptable stall character, and the impact of this is to boost minimum drag by a similar amount.
