The profileīs caption isnīt quite correct. This brand-new plane had been on a transfer flight to Northern Italy when the pilot lost direction and erroneously landed in Switzerland. Due to the different transfer flights within Southern Germany and the winter season there temporarily washable winter camo had been applied on the regular RLM 74/75/76 pattern. The white Balkenkreuz on the wing is placed properly but hardly to see because of the paint. After having arrived in Italy the paint including the Stammkennzeichen would have been removed. So the 109 was interned in Switzerland til the end of war.

Hope this helps

Did a bit of research, found it was a pilot named Hirtes who was at the controls when he became lost on the transfer flight.
The aircraft was used by the Swiss and coded J-713, but was lost on 29th May 1946 when its pilot 1st Lt Zweiaker flew into a mountain on a training flight, His and the aircrafts remain werent found untill 1953

pretty intereting story for one plane

Hallo Fran_Zee,

Sehr "eigenwillige" signature !
Kannst Du ein Bild davon hochladen?

Cheers,
Hogey

For the non-german speaking community:
This caption "Wer zuerst scheisst hat mehr vom Leben" should actually read "Wer zuerst schiesst hat mehr vom Leben" !

The correct ome means "Whoever shoots first has more from life!", the wrong one means "Whoever s h i t s first has more from life!"

But no wonder if the publishers use computer translations instead of professional translators.
