Back after away for a long time... - 01/22/23 07:43 PM

Found my old EAW sim disk and case. Checking out things here to get started back. In win. 10. Still play CFS3,IL-2 '46 ,OFF,FSWW I, and several older sims. Liked this one a bunch back in the day and want to see if i could still enjoy it. Where to get started to play catch up ? Any advise would be helpful.Regards,Scott

There have been many changes since we got the source code. The game is basically the same as 1.2 but it accommodates a wide range of theatres and planesets. An external file-manager is use to set-up the game. In windows 10 you get a better frame rate using Glide.

There have been many changes to EAW since we got the source code. The game is basically the same, but it handles multiple theatres and plane-sets.
The original CD is not needed, and file manager is used to set things up for the game:

In windows 10 you get a better frame rate if you use glide.
Let me know if you are interested and I will post a link to a trial version to test to check if it works on your PC.

I have made a stand-alone download of the Ardennes theatre and planesets for people to try.

You can get it here

Running the downloaded "UAW160Ardennes.exe" (only 356 megabytes) will create a "UAW160 Ardennes" folder.
It only has the essential files and folders to run the Battle of the Bulge theatre.

There is a "DSP Ardennes.exe" which will allow you to select things.

I included three winter terrain sets to choose from.

Scott:
The eaw.ini file is set for my Logitech extreme 3D PRO. You may need to adjust the settings.
Do not select the "MPO" exe- it is made for multiplayer only. Use the settings that I did for the picture.
Do not worry about DX9

Use the settings that I did for the picture.
Do not select "LastSavedPS" - it is a folder that my plane-set editor uses and i did not mean to include it.
It can be deleted from the "PlaneSets" frolder.

Glide is included. If you want to use it then make sure that the "eaw.ini" file is set to 1024x768 before you run EAW.
This is a requirement of the glide code that is in the eaw.exe.
To select glide you need to use the configuration page (Game Set-tup ==> Graphics)

Check the "eaw.ini" file for key-presses and j/s buttons. For example start engine 1 2 3 or4 is CTRL 1 2 3 or 4.
