Yep, daughters. It is hard to say no. They learn it early. lol. It gets even better when they start approaching the teenage years.

That mother is a total b itch, not cool to put any kid through that crap.

Is that one of those moronic TLC shows? It looks like one.

Re: Drama Queens - 06/08/21 12:56 PM

Aww, go on and give in to it. That way you can reinforce that whining will get them what they want.

NO! You don't allow whining to turn into winning. I get what the mother's intentions were, but she could set a very bad precedent that could affect these girls' personalities and the way they deal with adversity for the rest of their lives.

Re: Drama Queens - 06/08/21 02:33 PM

Whether or not to give in to it is not the issue as I see it.

Giving in to whining children or adults, as there are many of both, is never a good idea but the bitc....mother created the issue
with her idiotic approach.

Now I will quit whining. smile

That Youtube channel is about animal rescue shelters. It is a pretty good one, too.

Might be more Drama Queens in this thread.
I would say the little girls were sad, not whining.
It has a happy ending....yeeesh.

I was impressed with the girls' ability to communicate so well at such a young age. Our daughter was the same way, vocalizing in entire, long sentences before she was two--they're wired differently, for sure. I still struggle sometimes to put enough words together to form a coherent sentence. smile

That's quite interesting considering that humanity in general seems to be getting dumber and dumber by the day.

Re: Drama Queens - 06/08/21 04:45 PM

We seem to be. Certainly humanity has declined since Newton's time, but this is what happens when you make food and safety easier to acquire--the less adept are able to better survive, thus they breed more. Statistically speaking, I've seen a few figures that show those who have lower intelligence breed with far greater frequency than those who exceed two standard deviations. Population dilution is a thing.

Then there's the great debate as to whether IQ is genetically pre-determined, or environmentally shaped during the first five years of a child's life. I feel that it may be a bit of both. If a bunch of averages or stupids are raising kids, though... you eliminate at least one of the factors(environment), for an average person isn't going to be able to engage in conversation in a way that would intellectually stimulate a young child's synapses into proper interconnect growth, whereas the genetic part would already be compromised due to their DNA.

Where is all this angst coming from? The parents were having the kids on, knowing how overjoyed they would be when the puppy arrived in the car.
Kids are resilient, if they were feeling down because they thought they weren't having a little dog, that will rapidly diminish when they get home and run around the garden with it.
They are just kids, and kids whine, they cry, they are vocal when they don't get their way... it's all normal.

This is absolutely the case at least in the US when you look at the relationship between education level, economic status and the number of children a family has. As a general rule, the greater the education level and economic status the less number of children are in the family.

I never said it wasn't normal, Trooper. I said that to agree to the puppy after they had their tantrum (albeit a minor one) could lead them to believe that repeating the behavior in other circumstances will lead to getting their way. And I agree with Sunchaser that it's a situation that the mother created with her poorly thought out (IMO) plan. My approach would have been to tie the puppy to some kind of prolonged good behavior such as doing chores for the older girl or picking up their toys without being reminded, which even the younger one can handle. Then the anticipation of and realization of the end reward would be connected to a more positive behavior.

That would include me and my wife. Don't worry, we may have difficulty walking through door ways and such, we did teach our children to think critically and passed on life skills through parenting giving them a chance at success. Despite having average IQs

Some of the 'stupids' people I've met have high IQs.

Eh, depends on how high their IQ is. I can see how someone with an average IQ would think someone with a 150+ could be stupid, or even alien, as their thought processes may seem bizarre and nonsensical. Someone in the 120 - 132 range is still pretty darned normal and rational, personality-wise, and even most of those from 132 - 140.

I think our point is the average intelligence, globally, has been declining, and with the way the world is going, sure seems so.

They are not robots...sad is an emotion, not a behavior.
Guaranteed when these kids look back on this day, they will only remember how happy they were.

Didn't think of that hahaha

I does have over 17,000,000 views.

On a side note, I would never have done this to my kids. As a parent, my kids sadness weighed on me. Still does even though they are adults.
