why do I get adds when I click Private messages

Hi Guys,

This is aimed at the owner of this website.. I am about to be done with this website it is one thing to bombard me with adds yes I know Add blocker but that is not what bothers me.. it is when I try to click say for instance my Private messages it goes to an Add. this is very intrusive and very annoying.. It only used to have the add at the bottom then it was the two adds and now this most intrusive add..

Please go back to where just no ads show up at the least only the one ad at the bottom.. I may just look for ad blocker again if it will get rid of these ads..


EDIT: well I just checked Ad Blocker seems it is Honor ware now I am getting extroted every corner I turn on the web this sucks royally

If you are on chrome I use uBlock Origin, Ghostery and Addguard Adblocker. All three of those tend to kill most things.

This site has gotten exceptionally bad with the ads being overly intrusive. But then again, this site has been dying for a while now. Between the lack of people playing games, the ads and some political related things Im also thinking about calling it quits. I've made a lot of friends from SimHQ but honestly almost all of them have moved elsewhere now.

Yes... it's getting to that stage with me as well, sad to say.
The ads really, really bother me. The increase from one to two, the second one now in a place that obstructs what I'm trying to read is becoming a deal breaker

Yes, I’m not happy with them either. It would be one thing if they were there for the site opening, but with every action there is the same obstruction ads.

Chrome / AdBlock

I see zero ads.

Firefox with ublock origin on mobile kills them for me. On desktop the same, i just have adblock added as well.

It's your fault. Dammit, the factory warranty on your vehicle is expired, and we're only trying to reach you to make available an extended warranty for it.

and I have sent donations to the pre-ad SimHq more than once. Always used the links here to things I has decided to purchase, went out of my way to do such.

When I finally went to adblock (no ads for youtube is a big bonus) thus site had become unusable for me...and back then I was way ahead of the power curve on internet awareness for the average guy.

It's a #%&*$# shame really, and I am quite sure it has had LOTS to do with the tumbleweeds rolling thru the streets.

Oh, and DAM (N) being blocked is just childish in this day and age.

Yes I was saying in my OP that adblocker could be an option but I went to go get it and I saw it was honorware menaing I would pay money if I found a use in their app. well I don't have the money right now and would feel bad using their app for free.

so maybe the owner of this websites would reconsider these annoying ads that are going to drive the rest of whats left of this community away..

Sadly, I think he bought it as an investment...

The Neph dude should be commended for his CHRISTIAN attitude about using an ad blocker, which certainly contrasts with bombarding us with over the top, intrusive advertising, so we can be sublimily chastised for arcane religious language transgressions.

I deal with worse on a daily basis in school, especially since I switched my major to Public Policy (not much longer). I guess that makes me numb to what this site has deteriorated to.

I do see a couple ads if I use the phone but I rarely come here on cell cos it's a work phone

SimHQ is most certainly not unique in that respect and the traditional internet message board is quickly dying out anyway. The fact that SimHQ has now been around for 23 years is incredibly impressive.

A lot of people here moved to mudspike and a bunch of others moved to various discords. This site doesnt really feel much like a community anymore. Its just random people asking game questions that no one answers. Most of the discussion is in PWEC which isnt worth reading anyways.

All of the chat that happens in community hall could easily be picked up with a discord since its really not much. There are like a handful of active users these days.

There's the problem, comments like the above. If you don't want to engage in PWEC then don't and also don't drag your argument against what is discussed in PWEC into other forums.

Exactly on point. If the PWEC bothers someone that badly then they can just pretend it doesn't exist and simply not visit there. Instead, some people turn it into some kind of personal soap box crusade to criticize the site entirely.

It shows the decline of SimHQ very accurately when most of the discussion happen in an echo chamber. This used to be a forum for a wide variety of simulations. Sim Devs used to come here to get insight into their player base. Now you fight through the ads to find empty forums. The whole attitude has shifted from optimistic and helpful to some restricted members only club and if your disagree with those members...

But whatever. Might be time to just move on afterall. Doesnt really even seem worth fighting to save anymore.

Nonsense. I just counted 21 sub forums with posts this week and having as many or more people currently browsing as the CH or PWEC. You sound like someone who had his pet ideas squashed by someone else in the PWEC and is carrying a grudge over it.

I don't always agree with posts on PWEC,,And sometimes when I get shot at for one of my posts I usually spend some time thinking about the response..As long as a poster is civil I don't take offense at a difference of opinion.And f I do I find I'd rather not pursue it..We all see tings differently and should respect others opinions...I'd rather be civil than turn a forum into the comments sections I see on some news sites.Think I'll stick with HQ awhile longer I like it here,,Strange a post about ads turned into PWEC territory

How many of those sub forums have multiple posts from this week. One post every week in an entire subforum is not "active". You can count the number of active (multiple posts a day) forums on one hand.

This has nothing to do with some "grudge". I think I've posted in the PWEC area 3-4 times in the past few months. I really could care less but you can see as the number of people using the forum as a whole goes down the PWEC content is starting to affect the forum more and more. I mean I casually mentioned the forum and you became overtly hostile immediately. You dont think that sort of attitude is affecting the forum?

Yes, the attitude of people like YOU dragging grudges against PWEC into CH, yes it's a problem.

I just took a look, pretty hypocritical of you to bash the PWEC when all but one of your posts (prior to this thread) since August 27th were in PWEC!

And in your last post there, before this thread existed, you made an off topic, completed unrelated to the subject being discussed, wise crack about a comment I made which I ignored. Very hypocritical conduct all around.

I think it is safe to conclude that ad revenue is what keeps SimHQ available. ( Don't take that as cheerleading for the InfoLinks, as that is not my intent. )

With ad revenue playing a part in keeping SimHQ available, people ought to realize that PWEC traffic is helping to keep the doors open. If someone does not like the discussions / topics in PWEC, they are not forced to participate, or even view the content there. Just ignore PWEC and enjoy the other forums as you wish.

Denigrating PWEC is counterproductive. It exists to keep the controversial stuff out of Community Hall, and it is helping to keep the server available to host the sim related forums for those purists who resent its presence here.
