Fun with ad algorithms!

Fun with ad algorithms! - 01/30/20 12:46 AM

It started with my hero Facebook advertiser, Wish.

Around Halloween, it popped an ad with "sexy cosplay" outfits. Naturally I immediately shared it, and waited.

Now, thanks to selectively sharing related ads from other advertisers seeking my interest in latex jumpsuits and Princess Leia slave girl costumes, it's slowly escalating.

I will proclaim myself winner when Facebook shows me an ad for ball gags to go along with the gimp suits (yes, I already made that milestone).

And yes, people who know me thinks it's hilarious; this is just the kind of thing that amuses me.

Anybody else share or click on ads just to see what related crap will follow?

What are ads? winkngrin

Good to see the sense of humor is still functioning...how are the ribs?

I do still miss those mindless hours of killing hundreds of bots per hour while conquering whatever the original Armd Assault island was (Saharani or something).

I bet you wish someone would pull up to your hanger in a repair truck. "Hey, I need a repair truck over here!"

Well, it’s your own fault for clicking things! LOL
You know you can clear all of that out though, right? There’s all kinds of crap to delete as far as advertising catered to what you’ve responded to and what they’ve noticed about you, but at least it’s there to delete.
...supposedly...

I don't see ads on my computer for the most part. I use a custom hosts file which black holes most, and I use ad block plus for an added layer of cover. I also don't watch ads on television, either. About a decade ago I got pretty irritated when yahoo mail started showing me ads for adultery and dating websites, after we'd been married only a few years. I never went to any of those, but there they were, and enough was enough.

Hilarious on your dilemma, though, Dart.

The hilarious irony about those adultery sites like Ashley Madison is that it was discovered that the great majority of the "female" accounts were actually cleverly programmed bots.

I was feeling done in, couldn't win
I'd only ever kissed before.
I thought there's no use getting into heavy petting
It only leads to trouble and seat wetting...

Now all I want to know is how to go
I've tasted blood and I want more
I'll put up no resistance, I want to stay the distance
I've got an itch to scratch, I need assistance:

Chorus:
Toucha toucha toucha touch me, I wanna be dirty
Thrill me chill me fulfill me
Creature of the night.

Then if anything grows while you pose
I'll oil you up and rub you down
And that's just one small fraction of the main attraction
You need a friendly hand and I need action...

Chorus X3
==========

Lol. She was so hot in that movie.

When you win Dart can you post a pic wearing your various paraphernalia?

Would that not go against the SimHQ Code of Conduct?:
"Please do not post or link to NSFW or borderline NSWF content."

Some news sites I visit, content can't be seen unless Ad blockers disabled.
I get 'girls in Naunton Beauchamp want to hook up' ads. There are 100 souls in this village and I have never seen these lovely ladies strolling about.

It would be utterly surreal for me to live in a village with about 100 people in it. I think for me it would be like a "The Wicker Man" experience. biggrin

I'd be more concerned that like Monthy Python's deadly joke, it would drive most people insane on viewing. Which, on zhe other hand, would give me a leg up in the post-count race, so maybe that's not a bad thing.

Arrr...we do go a'smollokin' come Wassail in our best pull-on Rumpsters.

We have no village shop or pub. Only crime last year here was a stolen sheep. Though that probably was an elopement, truth be known. With no pub we have to make our own entertainment y'see.

As a Londoner it was a bit of a culture shock moving here..But I wouldn't of liked to (or afforded to!) raise four children there.
