Ever heard of Mendez hot sauce?

Ever heard of Mendez hot sauce? - 12/20/19 04:04 PM

It's Brazillian and it is deeeeelicious! It cost just under $10 per bottle on Amazon and is worth it. I make my own hot sauce but I wish I had the recipe for this. In fact, I'm thinking of ordering several bottles and emptying them into my blender so I can make it hotter with my own ghost and red-tail scorpion peppers. I like my hot sauce pretty hot but it's the flavor of Mendez that makes it so good. I also use it to make a special sauce for my smash burgers by combining it with ketchup, mayo, and Worcestershire sauce. Anyway, I recommend this hot sauce.

By the way, if you are not familiar with smash burgers, watch this video. So simple to make but by far my favorite burger:

Seems like you've traded in your PC gaming hobby for a cooking hobby. biggrin

There is some truth to that! When I once researched which HOTAS would be best, I am now looking into getting a good chef's knife. biggrin

You are way ahead of me in that department! I can barely boil water.

Will have to try that. I love a good hot sauce as you might guess from the placemat. As for knives, I can't tell you what to choose since I have trouble picking the best. I own a few in the 8-10" range and like them all. One is ceramic and really is nice. You can't go wrong with a Henkels though. The table in the background is my most favorite bit of furniture. It is Russian Red Birch. No veneer, solid wood.

Some of my favorite knives. The black one is ceramic.

Try a Victorinox Fibrox, use it for a while, then seriously ask yourself if you need anything better. Most likely the answer will be no and you'll save a bunch of money.

They do make nice knives and the warranty is fairly good. I like the Henkels warranty that includes stupidity. Many years ago a roommate snapped the tip off of one of mine and I just walked into the store and handed it to them and they gave me a new one.

When I was a younger man stationed in Alaska a friend and I used to stop at The Boretide on our way home after a day skiing to have a beer or two. Most times we'd order and eat a plate of Jalpenos (NOT "on a steeeck"). Similarly, if my forehead wasn't sweating within three spoonfuls and my whole body by the time I finished the first bowl the chili wasn't hot enough.

These days I buy the mild salsa. A couple of years ago I tried mixing in one package of medium chili mix with two of mild and it was too hot. And if I ate a Jalapeno today it would be a question of "hotter going in or coming out?" I envy your ability to enjoy things like that, letterboy1. Think of me as you eat it.

Cholula regular or Chipotle is my spice of choice. I used to eat the hottest things I could find but have toned it down in my old age.

My all around favorite hot sauce is Texas Pete. I like a real vinegary hot sauce and I like its flavor which as you mentioned is an important thing. Some hot sauces taste too heavy and peppery to me. You've got me curious though. I'm always willing to find a new hot sauce to like. I can handle a little heat but not too much. Just enough to make my scalp sweat but nothing more than that for me.

Just watched the video and that hamburger looks great. The sauce mixture looks iffy by its separate parts but perhaps together its just one of those things that works.

I blame my father. He used to saute cayennes, tomatoes and bell peppers as a side dish for dinner. My mom and brother would not touch it but he and I ate it several times a week.
