Epic Game account hacked? Any suggestions?

Another reason to dislike this platform. Thankfully I've never made any purchases from this outfit and will never especially after today. I created an Epic account a couple of years ago or whenever it released to get Shadow Complex for free. I've never had issues that I know of until today. Today I go and log in and it greets me with:

"Welcome back PoopSniffer56"

Needless to say that is not my account name. What's concerning is that when I went into my settings, my correct email and first and last name which are required are still listed but my account name changed on its own. Does Epic have a known history of hacking? I was reading something briefly that said that hackers were able to use accounts of Forntnite players. I however do not have installed nor have ever played that game. Its looking like someone or something is piggy backing my account. I'm glad I don't have years worth of faithful patronage and even more sensitive credit card information through this idiotic platform.

Does anyone have suggestions? Hopefully I can just deactivate the account but who knows about whether or not someone has my email now which stinks. Too bad I'll loose Shadow Complex and a couple of the other freebies I was interseted in but I've never liked Epic and this cinches the deal for me. I'm hoping its some fluke but I doubt it. Not sure what to do and I dread contacting Epic.

lol;;;;;;;;as i told everyone in the free games thread, make a epic acount with a fake email. i did because i read about how easy epic was to hack, and the very same day i got 10 acount warnings.......i heard people lost email too so,and other acounts like origins battlefield, if they are conected i dont know but i'm not taking chances.

Hey, at least they hacked your account in style. That's funny.

You might want to think about getting a stronger password, say something 16 characters long with letters, numerals and case changes.

Never use a primary email account for anything but personal and "known good business" contacts.

The slight "hassle" of a secondary email account for everything else is nothing compared to having to change your primary - these days that's as undesirable as having to change your phone number...

I got an email from them yesterday saying my account had been accessed from South Korea, obviously not by me I was able to change the password though. My game PC is currently broke so I haven't tried to access anything myself yet. Not that I normally do, most of my stuff is Steam.

Do they not offer any kind of 2 factor authentication? A little bit of inconvenience can add a lot of additional security.

They do offer 2fa.
