I would say it is much tougher to win now then in 67. Many more teams, much longer season, players are tougher and rougher in the game.
Much more of a grind than in the six team era.
Even players that played then say, the players today are better, faster and shot harder and more accurate then they did.
Also there was a lot less travelling in the six team area then the current era, Perhaps 2 games a week at max.....Now 3 to 4 games a week...which takes a toll...even in jet aircraft.
In the six team area you played in one time zones with the exception of Chicago..., Now you play in three...

I'm pretty sure Archie was being facetious.

Of course it's hard to win now. There are 31 freaking teams, only 1 wins per year.
Bettman's watered down, salary capped, parity league.
Personally, I think the 20 team league was the best. Pre cap, pre pussification.

Re: Toronto Raptors - 06/09/19 09:39 PM

I think people tend to love the era in which they were young and everything was more fun. My Dad loved the 1950's Red Wings with Howe, Lindsay,, etc.. Even though I did enjoy the Red Wings success's of 97,98,02,and 08, I loved the late 80's and early, 90's era of Bure, Mogilny, and Selanne. I remember when people went to games to watch the games, not to be part of a social media picture day or to be seen in the expensive seats (status signaling). I remember in the eighties you didn't really bring your wife/girlfriend to the Blackhawks or Leafs games because it was just too #%&*$# rowdy in the stands. You certainly didn't take the kids. It's different now for sure, but it's somebody else's time.

Raptors lose 105-106. Ouch. 8/32 FG attempts killed them.
Some low life fans cheered when Kevin Durant went down with a torn Achilles tendon.
Way to fire up the Champion Warriors dumb asses.
Now they go back to Oakland for game 6.

So close to the Championship. I can see this going 7 games now.

Well they did it. Toronto Raptors are NBA Champs. Too bad they did not win at home though. And talk about anti climactic, they dragged out the last 0.9 seconds for about 4 minutes. Talk about a buzz kill.
