WW2 Britain Anderson Shelters - 01/07/19 12:48 AM

Watched a tv show on The Battle of Britain and they talked some about air-raid shelters and about on e I had never heard of - the Anderson Shelter.

Curious if I was the only one who had not heard of them.

For our UK members. Anyone have first hand knowledge of them ? Any still standing and being used for garden storage ?

Me Gran had one at the bottom of her garden, Mum used to tell me about the nights they spent in there when the Germans were bombing Clydeside.

There were still lots around when I was growing up but not as many around now, and yeah we used to play in them and as a kid used them as a model when my mates and I were building dens and hide-outs smile

My grans neighbours had one in their garden around 1970. I was so jealous.
