This intro beats the crap out of 99% of hollywood trash released in the last 10 years and could have made for a wicked x-files episode in the original mulder-scully years.
Total Annihilation is still one of my all-time favourite RTS games. The music by Jeremy Soule, played by a 96-person symphony orchestra, is still the best game music ever, IMO.
1. The intro to the 1st Mafia game from 2002, which used all in game graphics along with a memorable theme song. It ended seamlessly with the opening cut scene to start the game.
A long as Panzer started with a TW game, here's my fave of the series
2. All CGA intro for Shogun II (2011) This one's in 1080p with a great mo-cap sword duel.
Excellent choice there, two among my favourites too! Mafia was extraordinary right from the intro.

I see a Mechwarrior mentioned already. This was my first PC game and its intro gave me goosebumps for ages. It still does.
So many great videos. Man Jane's Longbow and Rainbow 6 gave me the nostalgia fuzzies. I can almost feel and smell where I was in my mind which is weird I guess lol. Mafia also is exceptional. 2KCezch/Illusion Softworks always did a great job with that engine. Felt so organic and the music and sound details are second to none. I agree, we need a Red Dead Redemption pc port and a sequel. John Marston is now one of my favorite gaming characters. Here's a few:
adlab picked a good one. Not pc but these deserve notice. Always loved the opening mission intro. Snake Eater was also very good.

I second this. The Mechwarrior 2 intro left a lasting impression on me.
Yeah, thanks for that Brun: the Beatles intro is one of the best, most evocative game intros I've seen in 30 years of gaming. In fact the whole game design is beautiful.
Wow! How could many of you have forgotten I-War?! One of the best intro for space PC game (14 minutes long!), this before current version of Elite Dangerous and Star Citizen:
