Can't see videos in SIMHQ

This just started yesterday. I can't see any videos posted here on SIMHQ. Both in Chrome and IE. I just see a partial black square. I have not downloaded any kind of updates? Is anybody else having this isse.

I'm having the same issue since yesterday. I think something has changed with the embedding code.

It's been happening across multiple sites for me too. I'm guessing Youtube changed something, but not sure.

Firefox, no problems at all. I believe they are all moving to HTML5 instead of Flash.
I never use IE or Chrome.

Video killed the message board star!

I am getting used to the black rectangles already. If folks would just post a link instead of taking up screen space with embedded video, it would not be a problem.

Yep. Something changed at YT's side it seems.

Videos are embeded with http://yt.com/v/<code>. If you copy & paste that, it goes tits up, but if you change it to the typical yt.com/watch=v?<code> then it works...

Not that it's of any help, but I'm bored.

Have the same problem with Chrome, Firefox and Edge.

The only thing that changed on my part was that Windows 10 update to 1607.

Embed code now reads "https://youtu.be/codexyz". I never really paid attention, but did it always have that dot in "youtube"?

Not sure, I know youtu.be works as I've seen it before. In my case the /v/<code> URL redirects to https://youtube.googleapis.com/v/<code>, and that doesn't work neither.

What I did is take some video, say http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/4286884/Playmobil_MTB#Post4286884. The embedded URL is http://www.youtube.com/v/u3uPZZQVoCg, and I changed it to http://www.youtube.com/watch=v?u3uPZZQVoCg.

Works for me in Vivaldi (Chrome).

Using Firefox, same problem.

Clicking on the embedded URL gives me an extremely zoomed-in view of the Youtube page. Clicking on the changed link redirects me to Youtube's 404 page. Weird.

Latest official Chrome version, Firefox, and Edge.

Some Flash problem, maybe?

As I understand it, navigating to the URL directly should take you to either flash or html version of Youtube, according to the browser...

All the videos show and play for me in the 'Military March' thread.

Might be Windows 10 issue then, using 7 ultimate and all is well.

The weird thing was that starting yesterday with the military march thread, some videos I could see while others only showed a long, narrow, black rectangle.

Every time I reloaded, it got changed around somewhat.

Since today, none of the embedded videos will show.

All of the above after the Windows update.

Why does it work partially, and later not at all? It was gradually getting worse. If it were Windows, it would have just stopped working, period?

Almost looks like Youtube began gradually changing their embed code.

Win 10 Jim and it did an update this AM when started the 'pute.

I just downloaded and installed the latest Firefox version, and the embedded videos now play again. Still not on Chrome or Edge, though.

I'm using Windows 7 and Windows 10, Chrome, IE 11 and Edge, and have the same problem on all platforms, all browsers.

I cranked up a Mint DVD and they showed there, so it might be a Windows thing, but it seems odd it would hit all at once. I hadn't installed any updates between when they worked and they didn't work, but have installed some updates after they stopped working thinking they may fix it, and they didn't.

I let Win7 install 7 updates this morning and had to reboot since it was dealing with
64bit system. Maybe a checking for a fresh Flash install will help ?

I'm on a clean Win 10 install (today) using Firefox and I don't have Flash installed and I don't have the problem.

Hope those still having issues with videos playing get it sorted out quickly.

not working for me in IE , Chrome, or Edge

Just tried the 'Military Marching' thread videos, and they run fine using my lap top.

Win7Pro, Firefox up to date.

Win updates, not happened since June, or maybe May.
Seems Windows won't update, with 'Never10'.
I guess they're punishing me.......lol....

I noticed my VP didn't like the new 'Adobe Flash' update, on my gaming box....said it was vulnerable.
But I only connect online once a month to update, just in case I ever need it.
It doesn't matter, I just deleted the bad .exe and had to use the 'Assassin' in Malwarebytes to do it.
Didn't want to go...'Administrator' didn't matter...I find that 'odd'.

Using Shockwave Flash on this laptop, works fine.
I think that's the same as Adobe, not sure.

I'm getting the same, just a black bar, Win10 with Edge and Chrome

Try with the latest Firefox build (48.0). It's working for me now, but only with that version.

This has to be Flash related somehow.

Fine in Chrome on my tablet and phone. Broken in Chrome, IE and Edge on the PC.

Googling around, it does seem Youtube made some changes. I don't know enough about it to understand why it affects some OS and some Browsers and not others... But it looks like forums will have to change the way they embed videos.

Yep, it's some sort of scripting thing.

All I see are long black rectangles all over the place here now, not having any probs elsewhere.

I'm getting them too. I'm on Windows 7 using Chrome.

Having the video problem using PaleMoon.
YouTube's recent changes broke the embedding feature at Mission4Today too.

Just started working for me just a little while ago, after a Flash update.

I don't think I updated Flash, but it also started working for me today. Windows 7, Chrome.

The downloads were and are fine Murphy.
It was the video embedding feature in the forums that was broken for me just like here at SimHQ. I didn't change a thing and it started working again on both forums today. Code monkeys at YouTube must have decided that breaking all the embedded videos in just about every forum might not be such a good idea??
