It looks great but I'll reserve my full judgement until I see the complete film. Trailers can be very deceitful things. Anyone remember the trailer for films like "Prometheus", "Exodus: Gods & Kings" and "Elysium"?

I was a 8 years old kid.

Looks amazing. Also amazing that it didn't break up when entering the atmosphere.

That and no one sent a salvage crew looking for the thing.

yeah, if it's good, more people will see it 2-3 times instead of just the 1 time when they'll feel they were duped..

Oh boy, how can a 45 year old man be so excited!! Especially when Han and Chewey appeared!!

Let's be honest. This film will make a ton of money regardless of how good or bad it is.

I remember watching the first Star Wars at a drive-in. There is still one a couple of hours away from here. I wonder if they'll show it.

They managed to make a crap Indie movie the last time, it's entirely possible.

Same old rehashed scenes, just different movie.

They've changed the looks of many of the ships, either for story or aesthetic reasons.

Yea, I'm not interested in a love scene with Princess Leia anymore.

Remember when there was this sort of attraction thing between brother and sister? Before anyone claims that there wasn't, I point them to Empire Strikes Back when Princess Leia kisses Luke Skywalker in order to get back at Han Solo, and Luke Skywalker looks mighty pleased. I wouldn't mind a joke or two about that in their later years.

It's a bunch of hypey goofy footage, but it's still pretty visually (I find it funny that he had to tell his troops to turn the safety off though)

I wasn't quite 5 when I saw ANH with my parents in the theatre. I remember that night quite well actually!

I have an old ex-girlfriend who's been at Celebration all weekend working the booths- there's several of us waiting to interrogate her when she gets back to Charlotte tomorrow.

Wanna know what bothers me more than Luke jumping down the shaft? Why Darth Vader couldn't haul him right back up it. Vader can tear objects off of the walls and hurl heavy crates at Luke with his mind. Yoda can lift an entire X-Wing. And Darth Vader, supposedly the strongest Sith in the Universe aside from the Emperor can't lift a 170lb kid in an airshaft with an updraft?

Side note: Luke, who hasn't even mastered his emotions and isn't even considered a "Jedi Knight" yet can jump thirty feet out of a cryogenic pit but the Emperor, THE MOST POWERFUL Sith left in the Universe at this point, can't levitate himself back out of the turboshaft when Vader tosses him down?

These guys sure forget their training when they're distracted.

There are a number of reasons he (LUKE) could be considered a major liability, here are ten of them for now.

1. In A New Hope He manages to persuade them he is a competent x-wing pilot, when clearly he hasn't taken part in any form of training aside from his fabled T-16. Surely he should have asked someone to give him a quick run through of the controls.
2. He turns off his targeting computer on approach to the Death Star's exhaust port without giving his superiors any sort of explanation as to why.
3. He uses his lightsaber without any proper guidance until he meets Yoda, a dangerous weapon especially in untrained hands.
4. He believes it is a good idea to run off into a blizzard rather than remaining in the Wampas cave until conditions cleared the next day.
5. He ignores virtually every instruction Yoda gives him during his Jedi training, and is argumentative and insolent.
6. He rushes off to save his friends in an idiotic fashion without updating his rebel superiors of the situation on the off chance they may be able to assist.
7. He thinks it a good idea to jump down a bottom less chasm (as detailed further up in this post).
8. He formulates a plan to save Han Solo which defies any sort of reasonable logic.
9. He decides to go to Endor with his friends thus giving away the rebels shield generator attack plan within a few minutes of departing from their base.
10. He throws away his lightsaber at the vital moment of his battle on the Death Star with vader and the emperor just so he can make an ostentatious proclamation that he is now a Jedi. If he'd kept hold of it he would have been able to deflect the force lightening. Plus seeing as he had made the effort to build a new one then throwing it away is wasteful.

Why on earth does Luke see jumping down the shaft as a positive course of action?
Surely plummeting several hundred feet would in all likelihood lead to his death, and the fact that he somehow manages to avoid this is ridiculous in itself.
What is that red tube opening on the side of the shaft and how does he somehow manage to get pulled into it? All I can think of is that the whole shaft is some sort of rubbish area, and the other little lights on the side of the shaft are windows into the various apartments belonging to the residents of cloud city. Maybe when they empty their bins they throw their rubbish (trash) out of the window. The rubbish then falls to the bottom of the shaft and gets sucked through that tube system before being released out into the atmosphere of the planet.
Maybe during the fight with Vader Luke had witnessed someone doing this, and with this knowledge he realised that he may have a chance of escape if he attempted it himself.

However, if all the apartments of cloud city had to have a window over the shaft, it would be a less appealing property to own, especially seeing as the view over the other side is very picturesque. So it would seem an odd piece of design all round, and one that surely would have been pointed out to the architect at the planning application stage.
Also, once the rubbish was released into the atmosphere, it would cause a great deal of air pollution, and with an abundance of ships and freighters in the vicinity of the city, any flying debris could cause an accident.

If Luke wasn't simply trying to commit suicide, then his course of action seems extremely foolish if the above is simply not the case. Surely a better means of escape would've been to go with Vader but then make a run for it at a later opportunity. At some point he was going to have to have treatment on his injured arm, so perhaps when he was in the hospital he could've discharged himself early and made a quick escape. Or even something as simple as climbing through a window during his next visit to the lavatory. Lets not forget his x-wing was still parked at cloud city, and if he reached it he would've been home free.

Plus i'm sure the rebel alliance leaders would have taken exception to Luke using his x-wing on this personal crusade, it is without doubt an expensive piece of machinery. I'm sure when he returned to the rendezvous point he would've faced a stern talking to, or perhaps some sort of court marshall.

I actually agree with Disney's tossing the notion of the Expanded Universe (EU) as being canon. Hell, Lucas forcefully managed the EU through his minions, but when it came to the movies he was more than willing to play the hypocrite.
