Saddest death in gaming - 07/24/14 12:35 PM

Hi guys,

I would like to ask you about the saddest death in gaming. Which one is yours? After a serious consideration I think that mine is Elias in Call of Duty Chosts.

Operation Flashpoint

Yeah, the way you use them the spoiler tags are useless.

Re: Saddest death in gaming - 07/24/14 02:06 PM

I wasn`t sure if the spoiler tags are necessary.

You can't tell which game each one is referring to without revealing the whole spoiler wink

Re: Saddest death in gaming - 07/24/14 02:23 PM

He means he doesn't know if it's ok to click on the tag without doing so.

So if you put Mass Effect 3, OFP:R, and Metro: LL outside the tags he'd know which games he's already played or had no intention of playing and were safe to click on and which he was planning on playing and didn't want spoiled and could avoid.

Re: Saddest death in gaming - 07/24/14 02:29 PM

My saddest death in gaming would have been my favourite keyboard. It was during a BF2 MP session and I got so annoyed I literally smashed it to bits with my raging fist smash

*edit* Ah,my saddest death was during gaming, not in-game.

Re: Saddest death in gaming - 07/24/14 02:33 PM

To use another definition of the word "sad":

KOTOR2
Click to reveal..
Kriea's death. I mean, WTF? I'm glad Lucasarts was disbanded after the colossal screw up that was the rushed release of that game. It forced Obsidian to turn the end of the game into pointless exposition followed by the main villain falling over dead. I guess all that talk drained her life. rolleyes

Yeah that was definitely one of the most infuriating and disappointing things I've ever encountered in any PC game.

One more I'd like to add,

Mass Effect 3

Re: Saddest death in gaming - 07/24/14 03:07 PM

I'm with semmern. John Marston in Red Dead Redemption. In 25 years of gaming though this game came along not that long ago, John Marston is one of my favorite video game characters.

The other would be characters who are based off of real people who die in games like the Brothers In Arms series. frown

Okay I'll add one more. Brother Martin from Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion. I got majorly sucked into that game and story and enjoyed interacting with that character voiced by Sean Bean. He's another though that went out in the blazes of glory, sacrificing his life.

Incorrect. You are assuming that the character YOU PLAY AS in the game dies. The question was open ended and is referring to ANY character that dies in a certain game.

Re: Saddest death in gaming - 07/24/14 03:13 PM

Yeah right, I checked and as I incorrectly assumed I was right.

*sigh*

whatever... time saved from games I can spend on other games I guess.
Lastly fault is all mine though. I can only blame myself...

Wait...

Re: Saddest death in gaming - 07/24/14 03:53 PM

Neverwinter Nights 2, one of the companions, owns a farm I think. It was the most manipulative level/campaign design I've come across and they did a good job setting that up. Lol I think I even remember her name Shandra. That's soooo odd cause I don't even remember the names of some of the women I've been with in real life.

I feel pathetic admitting that.

Re: Saddest death in gaming - 07/24/14 04:29 PM

My 12th level Bard playing AD&D in 1982. The DM rolled a natural 20/00 and my character was decapitated.
I was 13 and playing with the Whidbey Wizards and Wargamers -- mostly a group of guys from NAS Whidbey.
I still think the DM fudged that roll...

My elite 5 star "2nd Pioniere Division" in the original Panzer General game.

Those guys had more kills, both armour and infantry, than any other unit. I was sick to my stomach when they were gone.

Mine, two seconds after contact in any given SimHQ ARMA session.

I could be in the prone in a bunker and it wouldn't matter.

"Contact Front!"
[Dart has been killed]

Anyone who played with me back in day can bear witness.

Re: Saddest death in gaming - 07/27/14 01:54 PM

Not exactly a death in the game but, the death of the little girl in the trailer for "Dead Island" choked me up. I get the feeling I would have been happier with the game, had the story line followed her family. (I know it's not possible).

For me, the game did not live up to the drama of the trailer.

Well it is only one of the endings. In the other ending she kills you and then tells you that you won. You even get achievements for beating the game; you won, after all. I didn't really care for that ending, but it sure was interesting to see the first time I suppose.

As for me, I can't really recall any video game deaths that have made me sad.
