Finally Got The Break I've Been Waiting For

After so many years of trying, finally managed to secure myself an I.T job working for an airline! W00t!

God it's been hard work; here in Aus, to get into the airlines, it's usually a matter of who you know, not what you know, but in this case, I was selected out of 200 applicants. I'm very happy at the moment; the boss has already discussed my future in the company.

They've needed another person for some time; by years end we will have 400 staff to look after. Lots and lots of projects on the way, I can't wait. Airline flies mainly Embraer 120's, and Fokker F-100's. Haven't asked if they have a simulator on site yet....M'wahaha!

My new manager's very keen too; his been there for a few years, but he only learnt to fly gliders due to having a young family.

Can't help but think I will be a different person after next week, just had to share the news.

Once I settle in, I'll post some airside photos. It's making me feel more and more like getting my currency back, despite the cost. Now I just need to shed that surplus 20 kilos. Thanks very much 40's! LOL.

They've sucked another one into their evil cabal! Enjoy it! I'm at my 5th (6th if I count the A320 wet-lease with Virgin Express) and I can tell you it's feast or famine. An airline, unless its state-supported like Emirates or Singapore, is in a continuous state of crisis. If you can handle the stress, it is a blast!

Great news! I'm glad to hear about someone getting the job they WANT for a change, it doesn't happen often.

Well, time to give an update after my first week......

Job is awesome, in every possible way! My boss sees me as an equal to him, and is very fair with the work that he hands to me.
There are plenty of projects that I am going to be able to assist him through this year I'm glad to say. We also just passed a major audit by CASA (our FAA) and the big boss is moving the company towards picking up luxury/executive RPT work.

Still waiting for the government to send me my airside cards, but this is always a slow process here.

Apparently, they are teeing me up with a jumpseat ride in a Fokker F-100 some time in the near future. I'll be certain to take a camera on the day. All I can say is it's a pleasure to go to work!
