Tms or radar targeting on HAT?

I'm going through the process of deciding which actions to assign to my single hat switch (t flight hotas x)
I've read everywhere that's it's best to assign tms and dms to hat. So I can see the benefits of dms but I think I'd rather have radar targeting on the shifted hat.
Just would like to know the benefits of tms on hat?

I use a Cougar and Dunc's profile that's included with BMS, with some minor tweaks to taste.

I have trim on the top hat. But DMS, TMS and CMS are all on their own four-ways as well. Not sure what I'd do if I could only choose one of these. I guess TMS since I want that while eyes-up I reckon. Although you need a way to slew your cursors, and maybe it would be better for that? Not familiar with the Hotas X so don't know what you've got to work with.
