MMJoy2 Button and switch matrix - 05/04/20 09:23 PM
Hi, im tryin gto build a diy throttle setup with arduino and mmjoy2. I have several 5-way tactile buttons, toggle switches and regular buttons. I cant solve how to connect them as a matrix. There is a connection scheme on mmjoy's page. But there is no scheme for an on-on-on toggle switch. A regular button connects like = row side with diode, and other side goes to another buttons column pin. But how should i connect a toggle switch? Should i connect its 2 outer pins with diodes or just center row pin with a diode? also i cant even sure its outer 2 pin is row or column. Also im not sure about how to connect diodes' poles.

Ok, thanks for reply. Apparently its working if i put a diode to every switch or button's row cable. And its interesting that i have different model of diodes and i connect them as opposite of your scheme and it worked. Their lines(stripes) close to board. Also i modified my on-off-on switches so they act like an on-on-on switch. They have 4 cables each, 1 of row and 3 columns. They have 3 positions and in every single position they give different button press. And i put a diode to row side. I have 3 navigation buttons. Each of them have 5 inner buttons. Left right up down and middle. They have a single common pin. And i use that common a a row and put a single diode to it. So every 5-way nav button has only 1 diode. They worked that way idk why. And again, i wired the diodes opposite. I have 3 more nav buttons to wire so maybe they will start to not working again when i wired them. I will give updates again

If I understand correctly you are using BU0836 matrix scheme, diodes after buttons and pointed to ROW and board:
https://www.leobodnar.com/products/BU0836/6x6.pngWhat matters is don't have "ghost" buttons press when more than 3 buttons/switches are pressed.
Can you post a drawing of scheme for make ON-OFF-ON work as ON-ON-ON?
