Seeking opinions on Sim Pit purchase price - 05/26/19 03:10 PM

Hey all,

I've come across a local Sim Pit for sale. I'm not very knowledgeable on a sim pit build of this level, so I'm unable to asses the price they're asking. Any thoughts or guidance on the Pit at this price point would be greatly appreciated.

They're asking $10,000

The switch panels are all real, and they say they work, but everything was unplugged.
The gauges are all stickers.
The MFD is a sticker.

Hi Remington,

That seems a lot of money for what is effectively a load of switches, some wood and an interface card to me.

You could use it as a starting point, but i think you'd get fed up with it real quick. I know how much time is put in to building a pit, but without working guages and MFD i wouldn't touch it.

We build these things for the fun and challenge of doing it, not to make a profit.

If you do decide to buy it, don't part with cash until you've seen all switches working in a sim.

good luck,

Andy

I will second that.

What that fellow has there is pretty, and a not insignificant amount of work to put together (assuming the switches all work)... but it isn't $10,000 worth IMO.

Thanks for the input! I've got my number in for further discussion with the owner. I'm afraid my max offer would be insultingly low considering the amount of time he's probably sunk into it.

Seems like a rebuilt (new dashboard mainly) old thrustmaster fiberglass F-16 cockpit. With added switches and stuff of course.

Yeah back in the 90s. Fiber glass F-16, FCS, TQS, RCS and some buttons on the cockpit itself configured after Falcon 3.0.

Here is a youtube video about it:

This was the initial reason I started to make a homepit back those days. I bought the PFCS, WCSMK1 (the one with the dip switches to choose the keyboard emulation for your used simulation) and the golden RCS Pedals. In the box was a flyer which showed the TM F-16 cockpit. I wrote to TM about the price of the whole kit and they answered a few weeks later.

It was so much expensive, that I quickly canceled the idea of getting one. So I started to built my own biggrin
