Two Computers one Router

I remember this being asked before but can't find a thread...I have ny gaming machine HP desktop and just acquired a Dell laptop..got win7 on the desktop and win 10 on the laptop,,The issue is my router from Spectrum has only one port ..I tried calling Spectrum but my hearing is horrible and a language barrier makes it hard to understand..I would rather not ust a wireless connection and just a solid cable connection...I see switches on Amazon and they appear to be like a USB hub..I've only got the two machines and no need for a wireless connection and I don't like seeing all my neighbors when I look at internet connections,,
I think if there's an ethernet hub or attempt to get Spectrum to replace my modem with a two holer..Ant suggestions are welcome I'm tired of plugging and switching connections manually,,Thanks for any advice

A Router with only one cable port? That would be a modem

Go get a cheap Ethernet switch, something with four or eight ports, unmanaged... they are everywhere.

Sorry RSCol you are right it's a bloody modem..They first put in a router but it kept dropping my connection and replaced it with a simple modem..At the time I had one Machine..I did look at Amazon but wasn't sure it was the right thing..I just want the laptop for bills and banking and keep my gaming rig for just gaming..Got Win 10 on one and Win 7 on the other..Thanks for the advice..
