Windows update causes video rendering error - 08/13/13 12:42 PM
I just wanted to share this in case others are having the same problem.
A recent Windows update, kb2803821, may cause a video rendering error in Windows 7. Typically, the top half of the video will be black.
http://www.infoworld.com/t/microsoft-win...-2834904-222636I ran into the issue with a puzzle game that I am running through Steam, but apparently it also affects other software such as Adobe Premiere. Uninstalling the Windows update fixed it.

This post saved me from installing this tomorrow. Thank you.
This is also why I don't allow Windows to update automatically...

I set all my PC's to "DL these patches automatically but let me decide when to install them." That way when I'm ready to patch, I don't sit there staring at the ceiling while it DLs those 100MB (because MS never has enough bandwidth for this), but it also never does it without my say-so.

interesting, (I always keep my PC updated)... the only game that does this is Moto13, top half of the intro video screens are black, but the game itself runs fine.

well, the update prolly forces their botched MPEG-4 Codec again.
I Installed that a while ago, couldnt watch anything other than WMV without players crashing.
uninstalled.
New I.E. Came out, installed, It also installed their DirectX MPEg-4 Codec.
Problems Came Back, Uninstalled it again.
I tell it to download, but I hold them for a week to see if any issues come up, and uncheck/HIDE the problem updates and let the rest install.
