Combat Mission: Black Sea - Hold The Line! - 02/02/1501:47 PM
Here are my video AAR's of my first mission in Battlefronts newest iteration of the Combat Mission game series. This is one of the standalone mission titled "Hold The Line!" where the player is tasked with holding 3 key bridges with a depleted US Army INF platoon from the inevitable Russian Mech assault!
This initial video goes over my terrain analysis, force breakdown, and general gameplan. Hopefully everything goes well!

Part Two is now live:
This video is a quick recap of what took place in the first 4 minutes/turns. My Engineers on the left spot and destroy an ENY Sniper team trying to cross "Bridge Charlie 6." My Javelin team in the center also gets a kill and knocks out an ENY ACP which in turns forces the ENY to dismout what looks like an RPG team into the woods! other than that I get a handful of sound contacts indicating ENY INF and possible MECH coming!
Re: Combat Mission: Black Sea - Hold The Line! - 02/02/1506:11 PM
Things are starting to heat up at the river! The Russians are starting to make a push toward the bridges but my forces are making them bleed for it. 1st Squad gains a kill on an APC with an AT4 and pins the dismounted HQ unit. I adjust several of my ARTY fire missions and start to light up the wood-line on the far bank on my right flank. My sniper team also engages an ENY missile team and scores a kill. Things are looking good at the moment but I know from past experiences that my world could be turned upside down at the drop of a hat. the brief did stat that the ENY forces did have some T-72 tanks so I imagine those will be showing up shortly.

Absolutely loving this new CM game!
My artillery is starting to produce results on both the right flank and in the center. The Russians again try to advance a few INF units across Bridges Charlie 5 and 6 but get swiftly killed in the process by by own INF.
The POGS arrive with 3 LMTV's full of ammunition and more importantly Javelin missiles! I command them to their respective places in the battlespace so that my own troops can resupply. I also now have a pair of AH-64E Apache gunships at my disposal!
Things are going well so far and morale of the troops is good, especially now that the convoy has arrived and they have a fresh supply of MREs to make Ranger Cookies with!
Re: Combat Mission: Black Sea - Hold The Line! - 02/04/1501:01 PM
The Russian advance continues and I take my first casualties. My small squad of Engineers on the left flank are lit up by a group of ENY APC's 30mm cannon and get beat up pretty bad. I think their only saving grace was the fact that they were in a building which provided them some much needed hard cover. The Russians are also mobilizing more APCs on my right flank in what appears to be a river crossing! I am starting to think I'm about to become the victim of a classic pincer move! Only time will tell and hopefully my boys can hold out!
Re: Combat Mission: Black Sea - Hold The Line! - 02/06/1501:33 PM
Fall back!!! Again the Russians make advances across the river but we are holding strong and redeploying to better combat the Red Threat. My troops are moving to their secondary defensive positions and resupplying with what they will need in the coming minutes of battle.
SPC MacCain in his Hummer also goes to work with his M2 50 Cal and knocks out an ENY APC while pinning an ENY SQD on Bridge Charlie 5. I guess those longs days/nights on the range paid off!
Re: Combat Mission: Black Sea - Hold The Line! - 02/07/1509:56 PM
I continue to re-deploy my troop in preparation of the Russian assault that is starting to form on both the left and right flank/bridges. I get confirmed contacts of APCs on our side of the river so the Russians now have a foothold and will attempt to exploit it.
On the plus side my 155mm artillery rounds begin to fall on the heads of the unlucky Russians crossing on the right flank. Hopefully it is enough to stall/stop their advance and buy me some time to readjust and redeploy. Also my sniper team with the M107 .50 cal sniper rifle starts to give the Russians another problem as he begins to get penetrating hits on several APCs!
Re: Combat Mission: Black Sea - Hold The Line! - 02/08/1505:23 PM
So far so good!
The Russians are starting to concentrate forces on both flanks in order to make a push in the coming turns. I whittle down their APCs with Javelin and large caliber sniper fire.
The clock is ticking and I'm am starting to wonder where our Ukrainian relief force is. Our casualty rate is pretty low so far, a few WIA and maybe 2-3 KIA. I just hope I have men left to relieve when they decide to show up!
Re: Combat Mission: Black Sea - Hold The Line! - 02/09/1501:44 PM
The left flank is about to fold!!!
During these few turns the Russians attack our weakened left flank with several APCs + INF!!! They cut our forces in half and separate 1st SQD/B Team from our main defense line. The rest of our forces on the hill are ordered to fall back to the village. Our AH-64E Apache gunships are on station and beginning to do their best to ensure our safety.
If our relief force does not show up soon I think that we will not be able to hold onto the left flank. Things are looking rather grim for NATO at this time.

During these next few turns not only are we reinforced by our Ukrainian allies but we manage to hold the line and repel the ENY advance.
The Russians make a mad dash with 3 APCs on our right flank but 3rd SQD manages to kill one with a nice AT4 shot while our center LMTV heats up the barrel of his .50 while mowing down ENY ground troops.
Our Sniper and FO team begin to take fire on our right flank and we quickly decide to relocate into both the woods and the building behind.
Unfortunately for 1st SQD/B Team and his accompanying Engineer section, they make a valiant last stand before being quickly overrun by ENY troops.
On the right flank another ENY APC gets danger close to our troops but 2nd SQD makes short work of it with a point blank AT4 kill right into the BTRs flank.
The Ukrainians arrive just in time and I give them their marching orders getting them right into the fight. I move the a rifle squad and HQ unit with their respective BMP transports into the woods on the left flank which desperately needs bolstering. They get into position just in time to kill an ENY BTR dueling it out with our LMTV.
I move the BM Oplot to the center of the map and he begins to engage ENY tanks across the river. The remaining Ukrainian BMP3 is ordered to advance to the right flank.
I have to mention SGT Donahue (Sniper Section) as his superb discipline under fire saves many lives during this turn. He and his .50 cal sniper rifle manage to destroy/repel the ENY APC advance.
Re: Combat Mission: Black Sea - Hold The Line! - 02/11/1503:34 PM
Our Ukrainian allies are in place on both the left and right flank and we begin to counter assault the Russians. We do lose a Ukrainian BMP on the left flank but in turn we also destroy an ENY MBT and another APC across the river in the center of the map. Now that our reinforcements have arrived things are starting to look a lot better!

Welcome to the first of a series of gameplay videos featuring Battlefronts newest foray iteration of the Combat Mission game. This is a stand alone battle where I am tasked with holding three key bridges with a depleted platoon of US Army INF against a Russian MECH Battalion. I do have reinforcements and air support so we will see how it goes.
The battle continues as we try to reestablish a foothold on both flanks. I move the BM Oplot MBT over to the right flank and I plan on using him to force out any INF units that may still be holed up in the town south of Bridge Charlie 4.

Part Thirteen + AAR:
The final video in the Combat Mission: Black Sea "Hold The Line!" series, plus a detailed AAR!
With the arrival of our Ukrainian allies the beleaguered US forces manage to push the Soviet forces into surrendering and secure a "Major Victory" end of mission result. The cost in lives is too much for the Red Army to bear while the NATO forces sustain fairly light casualties given what they were up against.
