Well I won't say I won't take one for a nostalgic spin now & then smile but nowadays I get more of a kick fighting for survival than dominating a battlefield wink

Guys Pitts is also possibly going to game. He is sending out friend invites on Steam as well so don't just ignore it. Also Scout is also possibly going to do this as well.

Sadly that is the truth isn't it! Remember I tried to have a big meet up of all the minds a couple years ago and when it got time to do it even though everyone signed up they bailed. We shall see on this

Flatout was a good game back in the day. The guys who did it are making a new game also.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/228380/

though you'd have to get your system updated to play it. We've had a good time playing it though. Just put it on 20 laps of oval or 8 and see who comes out alive smile

p.s. Another good one for up to 6 I think is spintires. Its just about hauling logs but it's a lot of fun in MP because people get stuck in the mud and you have to drive over and wench them out.

Nice stuff there, mate. Thanks smile
Well, some of us havenīt got the horsepowers to run new stuff, unfortunately, so weīre (Iīm) stuck with older titles. But, we used to game them very succesfully and thatīs another reason to try ém again.

Spintires. Thatīs the Russian one innit? Yeah I tried that. I quite enjoyed that.:)

Hey troopers thumbsup
īK.
Me and Doc tested FlatOut tonight for the ablity to connect. No Go.
Hereīs what we did...

I have GOG Flat Out (henceforth known as FO) ergo we canīt use FlatOutNet which is the little exe we used to use to connect. GOG has a different file system, apparently.

Doc has retail FO with orig exe. No connect either way
we scratch our heads and drink some beer

Doc changes exe to the Eu 1.1. No connect either way.
we scratch our heads and drink some beer

Doc D/ls the GOG version. no connect either way
we scratch our heeds and drink some bear

Doc changes to EU exe. No connect either way
we scritch our hoods and slink some boar

We use the CMD Line Batch file host and joiner method (ask if youīre interested) No connect either way.
We scratch our beer and drink some heads

We try with Hamachi.
Now, as neither of us has a CLUE how this thing works.....No connect. Any experts out there? Regular users of Hamachi? Because this could be the way forward. Post up, jump in.

We look at each other (not easy) say Feck it. Call it a night.
we scratch our bollocks and drink some Aramis

Done.

Follow up post in a minute.

Not an expert but I've started using Hamachi successfully in the past few weeks.

Download LogMeIn Hamachi Getting Started Guide

It's 22 pages long but I think you can get it set up pretty easy just by following the instructions on pages 13-15.

Once you set it up, and others connect as clients, you set up your multiplayer session as if you are on a LAN rather than via TCP/IP.

There is a limit to the number of clients that can connect to the free version of Hamachi, not sure what that is however. Five maybe?

Thanks mate, very much appreciated. Iīll get on that tomorrow.
Are you available, at anytime, on TS?
Good info, thanks

Re: drink yer drink, fall, over, and then stumble into this thread.... - 07/25/16 11:23 PM

Ok, so what did we deduce from all this drinking..err..sorry..TESTING?
That weīre a pair of tossers who shouldnīt be allowed out into the community is what we decided biggrin

Conclusion. If we want to use FlatOut then we may have to use the retail version with FlatOutNet as the connection app.

Donīt go buying it yet though, I can sense you straining at the leash. Just chill for 24 hours wink

More testing with Hamachi tomorrow.
Wait out.

*Update*
Been messing with Hamachi for a while...itīs waaay to much editing of this and that involved And itīs only for 5 people, aftr that itīs payware. And, tbh, I really donīt understand it.So, bin it biggrin .

Looks like the next job is to *aquire* Flat Out, the old retail version.
Sit tight, hang loose.I shall keep you up to date.

*anyone seen me fag papers?, I had em a minute ago ffs!*

Fatman and I got BF1942 and DC installed and tested today. Found plenty of really empty servers to have fun on.
As mentioned, we can offer our teamspeak server for use as it has 250 slots and no issues with lag as Stewie and Fatman tested today talking to me in Australia all the way from Europe.

As far as I can tell, all we have left to do is nail down a time and make some Battlefield nonsense happen.

I'm GMT +10 so your Euro evenings are my early next mornings which means Saturday or Sunday mornings my time would be possible otherwise my afternoons/evenings are your mornings for mid-week gaming with the semi-retired :P

thumbsup
Yep, no discernible lag. Mind you, I couldnīt get a word in edgeways and do you HAVE to speak with that foreign accent? biggrin
Just kidding smile
Back in the day we used to have some lag probs but I think that, with the interweb being fibre optical these days, itīs a lot quicker.

Well, because of the probs with FlatOut ( a possible solution on itīs way) itīs kinda narrowed down to Bf42+DC Final. SO lets make it happen.

Bono, I didnīt bookmark your server, can you PM details, please? Or Phil? Whoever s awake.

But, just to re-iterate, weīll jump on the SimHQ server to start with, but we have yours as a great back up if we find we need to do Amin type stuff. Thanks guys.

Iīll bang a game thread up, see wháppen.

ok ive got BF1942, road to rome and secrets of WWII, no idea if its patched correctly, ill try and join a public server now and see if i can even log on...

little known fact, ive never played bf1942 before frown

ok so im on version 1.61, couldnt see any "internet" games currently ongoing, though that maybe cause a 14 year old game doesnt currently have any biggrin

Turns out I have BF1942, must'a been from when I bought that big box of games from that english guy who buggered off to New Zealand.

I got the FO installed on my GOG library, but needs tweaking. It doesn't handle multiple controllers biggrin and looks bad when it's stretched across 3 screens.

http://www.moddb.com/mods/desert-combat
Halfway down the page is a window, "Files"
Get the Desert Combat 0.7 patch, and get the Desert Combat 0.7 to Final Update patch.
Here are the direct links...
Desert Combat 0.7
Desert Combat 0.7 to Final
Alternatively, look at post 1 in this thread biggrin

Aight J.
Bf 1942: Just a thought, it might be better to DL the BF 1842 from the lins. It might already be patched up. Might. Doc, did you patch your manually or was already at 1.61?
Anyways J, snag those patches linked in the post above, mate.
Well, theyīre not patches really, more 2 parts of the Desert Combat mod. After installing, youīll have a helmet icon on your desktop. Thatīs the shortcut. It can also be activated within Bf1942. Go to Custom Games tab in game. Or it might be the Community tab. One of the two anyway.

Hang fire on Flat Out for now. problems getting it to work in multi play, unless you know a solution?

Bannerman, yeas, you should see bf42 games online. itīs still played. Do a Refresh then a Update at the servers tab
1.61 is the correct version.
