Just in case you forgot... I don't know if the new weapons are unlockable or not, but I am about to download.

Yeah I got it last night. Weapons are not unlockable except the P90 and L95 sniper rifle. Only managed to play the quarry and wall maps very quickly and they seemed good, lots of vehicles though on the wall map.

Going to play properly tomorrow but for £5.99 it seems good.

I bought mine earlier this evening, took the edge of the dissapointment at Red Orchestra. I was a little sceptical at the content but for £5.99 you can't go wrong. When BF2 was first released I thought the game was awful, performance was lousy. I'm glad I did'nt trade it in as it's probably been the most played game on my HDD over the last month which surprised me greatly.

For those that haven't gotten Euro Force yet:

- 352MB download - only from EA servers (54 minutes here)
- Requires that you log into your EA Account - This may be different from your BF2 name and password
- Requires downloading/installing/using "EA Downloader" (approx. 8MB)
- EA Downloader doesn't give an option on where it gets installed - it puts itself on C:
- The download ends up in C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\EA Downloader\cache\...
- EA Downloader puts itself into the Windows startup - To remedy this, with the EA Downloader open, click Edit > Auto Start > Uncheck the box
- For me, EA Downloader listed (1) the 1.12 to 1.2 incremental, (2) the 1.2 to 1.21 incremental, and (3) the full 1.21 patches as ready for download, even though I was already patched up to 1.21. (Not sure why... maybe because I downloaded those patches from a mirror and not directly from an EA server.)
- Must supply a GameSpy name and password to buy and download Euro Force
- IMPORTANT: When it asks for your "GameSpy name and password", what it should ask for, and what you should input, is your BF2 name and password. (IF you input the wrong name/password, later, after you've installed Euro Force, it won't load a Euro Force map, it will tell you "You must buy Euro Force". If you put in the wrong "GameSpy name and password", or need to change it, open EA Downloader > there's a link to change the GameSpy name.)

_______________________
Euro Force maps start directly from the original BF2. (If you start up in BF2:SF, it closes SF and starts the original when you choose a Euro Force map. If you know you're looking for an EF map, starting up in the original BF2 saves a little time.)

Meh, I was toying with the idea but after reading Papa_K's post they can keep it. I have plenty fun on vanilla BF2 and see no reason to add more.

Dano.

I'm not at home right now, but I'm almost certain I installed the downloader to E:/Games/ as I do with all such stuff.

The Great Wall map is good fun. The other two, while looking ok are a bit too armour dependent for my tastes. Tanks everywhere.

I really don't understand the 32 player thing either. The maps seem plenty big enough for more, so I don't get why they're limiting it.

Frustratingly considering the quality of all the other models in the game, the Eurofighter is absolute pish. It also has 1,000lb bombs mounted on the outboard wing plyons, with A-A missiles inboard. I know all that's only superficial, but it's also a bit stupid.

Six quid really is peanuts tho'. Consider what little else you could buy for similar money, and get it downloaded. \:\)

Yes the EA download system is clumsy, after numerous attempts at even creating an account I got to the thumping the desk and shouting at the monitor stage before going to make a cup of tea and calming down a tad \:D I've never seen such a ridiculous system. I tried various combinations of 'Revvin' and even opted for one of their own suggestions, ticked the box and they told me the name was already taken! FFS! why offer it to me if it's already taken!

I was'nt going to let a poorly designed online system stop me from enjoying a fun little add-on that cost a measley £5.99.

I stand corrected. You get the option of where to put the cache, not where to install the app itself.

Wasn't trying to talk anyone out of buying this "booster pack" with my post, or to be too negative - just wanted to give a heads up on what to expect, and some annoying details of the process. (It definitely could have been better.)

"The Great Wall" has already supplied its fair share of entertainment - esp. for the price.

_____________
Thanks Brun, I'll have to see about moving the cache.

Re: Euro Force is out - 03/21/06 05:01 PM

So what do you guys think? I kind of like the tank battles on the two MEC maps. I think I need to start playing more as an engineer, but I am trying to get my basic anti-tank badge. I did manage to get two hits on an Mi-28 with a SRAW and take it down. That was kind of cool. I haven't played Great Wall online yet though, so I am curious about that. Probably won't happen till this weekend though.
