Unrealised Stalls

Unrealised Stalls - 04/06/19 07:49 AM

OBD,

I have alot of trouble hearing/distinguishing the wind buffering when a stall starts to occur and don't realise till it's too late.

Can you please look into adding a visual/sound action such as "Cockpit Shake and Shake Sound" or something other than just sound,
when a stall is about to take place.

The wind sound is very loud here, maybe reduce the engine sound level a lot in workshop then increase your PC's volume

If you haven't already select ambient sound option instead of realistic, i think realistic has louder engine and therefore everything else is harder to hear.

Thanks,

Was set on default eng sound 40 and lowering it, I can hear the stall buffering now
but I still can't tell if I'm in or out of a stall sometimes as the buffering sound continues to play
even when recovered and unknown if I'm falling or flying.

There are no visual or feel (shaking, spinning) indicators to a stall happening and as I don't use "outside views"
I find it hard to react in time to avoid death and destruction.

For me what works is once I know I am in a stall, usually left wing falling off and hearing the sound, I left rudder into it while easing the nose down. All the while I am checking the Speedo and looking for 100mph plus. As you are turning into the stall and as you get the nose vertically down or near, your speed will increase over 100mph and you can recover. I have never found myself in a flat spin and from what I have read the stall in the Hurricane and the Spitfire were quite mild and fairly easily recovered unless you persist in trying to pull the nose up. The best practice for me is keep a good eye on my Speedo and and try to stay above 140mph at all times, then you will never enter a stall. Another part of the solution for me is knowing when I am losing the fight(an ace opponent) or I am out numbered, then it is time for me to consider diving away and escaping to fight another day. I have to remember that this is the Battle of Britain, not a one mission scenario that I have to kill every 109 up there. It is a battle of attrition. Hope this might help in some small way kollie. yep

Yes the stall sound triggers and then runs for a duration, but as said, look at your speed.

And if you hear the stall sound, take action (stop pulling or whatever) you're either going to dive away and get to a speed where stalling isn't going to happen any time soon, or, if you only level out for a bit, you're pretty likely to stall again if you start pulling too much, so try and get out and back to having energy before getting into a turn fight.

The stall sound length has already been reduced in the next patch (in testing).
