Straight and Level Autopilot

Straight and Level Autopilot - 10/14/16 09:58 AM

If you want to try this unofficial feature, try this:
1) Locate the file "WOFFKeys.xca" at ..//Users/"your_username_here"/Appdata/Roaming/OBD_Games/OBDWW1 Over Flanders Fields
2) Open the file with any text editor (e.g. Notepad,...)
3) Insert following line:
Php Code:
<Key ID="Y" Action="AUTO_PILOT_LEVEL" FriendlyDesc="Straight and Level Autopilot" Category="SimControl" P4Use="y"/>

at the place as shown below (assuming you do not have "Y" key already binded). The result should look like this:

4) Save and close file "WOFFKeys.xca"
5) Run WOFF and test/enjoy.

Didn't it used to be at one time.
I remember using it before...

Re: Straight and Level Autopilot - 10/15/16 10:08 PM

I made mine ID="A" Mod="Shift" to keep it with the A for autopilot type.

Re: Straight and Level Autopilot - 10/15/16 10:31 PM

Stupid question alert, but does this work differently than the autopilot that comes standard?
Posted By: DukeIronHand

Re: Straight and Level Autopilot - 10/15/16 11:35 PM

That autopilot will manuver, follow waypoints, etc.
This one is just like it sounds. Nothing fancy...

Yep, Standard autopilot follows waypoint while Straight and Level Autopilot controls airplane to keep it Straight and Level only.

As a ground pounder too, that was why I have looked for solution... and found this forgotten/hidden level autopilot wink.

Re: Straight and Level Autopilot - 10/20/16 12:36 PM

Compatible with WOFF UE. If you install WOFF UE over previous version, keys binding incl. Level autopilot remain unchanged.

Re: Straight and Level Autopilot - 10/20/16 12:37 PM

Awesome.

Re: Straight and Level Autopilot - 10/21/16 02:51 PM

Once you do the aforementioned "cut & paste", and it's now officially a key command can you now assign it to a joystick in the Workshop controller set-up utility?

Re: Straight and Level Autopilot - 10/21/16 07:49 PM

I have assigned it to my Saitek X52 Pro joystick without any problem. Open your key assignment settings in Workshop and try it.

It must be there, somewhere. Try to search the file "WOFFKeys.xca" in Windows explorer.
BTW, I am not sure but since WOFF UE release this Straight and level autopilot command is part of default commands accessible via WOFF Workshop and/or WOFFKeys.exe.

Re: Straight and Level Autopilot - 12/01/16 08:16 AM

I am not understanding your last paragraph JJJ65 but Straight and Level is still there and still working great in UE.

Re: Straight and Level Autopilot - 12/01/16 11:36 AM

AppData is normally a hidden folder.

You would need to use the View menu and select Hidden items to be able to see it.

But is does sound like this can be used without manually editing the file.

Where is this 'straight and level' key binding in workshop... I don't see it.
Posted By: DukeIronHand

Re: Straight and Level Autopilot - 12/01/16 01:53 PM

You have to "add" it.
Go to the first page.

Re: Straight and Level Autopilot - 12/01/16 02:17 PM

I did not see it either.
If the WOFF UE install had it, it got wiped when I did a Pilot Restore (which also backs up this file.)
I did manually add it as JJJ65 had shown.
Then it showed up in the key bindings in workshop.

Re: Straight and Level Autopilot - 12/01/16 05:54 PM

I have been convinced (and it seems that erroneously) from post of Pol or Winder that Straight and level autopilot feature became standard part of WOFF UE. I apologize for my misunderstanding. So, follow instructions from first post of this thread, please.

This little gem of JJJs ought to be written in letters of gold......VERY useful! THX...

Re: Straight and Level Autopilot - 12/05/16 04:17 PM

Level auto pilot is in WOFF UE. We programmed into the sim some time ago even WOFF 3, just the key was missing from the xca file.

It should be there on a patched WOFF UE.

Re: Straight and Level Autopilot - 09/14/20 03:38 PM

Hello,

I just upgraded to WOFF UE and downloaded latest patch and updated. I show that Level Autopilot is supposed to be "Cntrl + F", however it does not work. Is the key command different that this?
Thank you.

Re: Straight and Level Autopilot - 09/14/20 07:25 PM

Itt appears at the top of the list under the filter "Sim Controls." Check to see if you have it mapped to a button or just remap it to a single key.

Re: Straight and Level Autopilot - 09/14/20 11:21 PM

Actually, I have determined that it never existed in the woffkeys.xca file, so added the line given in one of the posted msgs and now it works. Thank you!

Re: Straight and Level Autopilot - 09/15/20 01:22 AM

That's it! I completely forgot doing the same thing two years ago. Sorry!

Re: Straight and Level Autopilot - 09/15/20 02:19 AM

Thats' odd. the CTRL-F command works for me in PE. Maybe it's a WOFF UE thing.
Posted By: Polovski

Re: Straight and Level Autopilot - 09/15/20 08:28 AM

Also note if you already had and used WOFF UE prior to patching then you need to reset keys to defaults and Save (will of course lose all current assignments and controllers) via WOFFkeys tool (re map Keys/controller option etc workshop), OR.. easier just find it in "ALL" filter in WOFFKeys program and bind CTRL+F to it and save.
