Scenario Missions MOD - 03/08/16 06:00 PM

Download the mod here and extract the contents into your JSGME MOD folder. Then activate the MOD.

1. Select or Make a new pilot for either British or German Nation.
2. Go to Quick Scenarios on the main page

3. Select one of the missions from the drop down (red box). Check the box "pilot never dies" if you don't want to loose them. Select "go to field" to start your mission.

4. Read the mission objectives. Follow flight leader and the mission waypoints as best you can either by using Lou's map or ingame one.

Re: Scenario Missions MOD - 03/09/16 08:59 PM

Salute Oldhat,

My heart felt thanks for your skill and great effort and also for those that helped you and to OBD for a jewel of an adventure!!

I flew with Jasta 5 last night and it was very exciting.

As my flight dived into the RE8 formation, I started to follow them down but saw a large dogfight breaking out above us and slightly to the West. I decided to maintain the altitude I had left and when it looked like my Jasta had the Re8's well in hand, I started a climbing spiral trying to maintain visual awareness of what was going on above me.

I flew with labels off almost the entire time and only used them for 2 or 3 seconds.

Suddenly and I never saw them, 2 Camels were on me.

I evaded their fire for only about two minutes and then they heavily damaged my Alb DV. I was not hit but my plane went into a hard spin and nothing I tried to recover worked and went nose first into the ground.

But what a rush!

Re: Scenario Missions MOD - 03/10/16 06:49 AM

Thanks, Tango. I'm glad you felt how I did while playing this scenario. It really is a kick in the pants to try and survive let alone focus on finishing the objective.

Just a small note that these MODs have no DM or FM changes. Basically, I place waypoints and altitudes for a few planes to follow. I can set the number of planes that will show up in a squad as well.

EDIT: Since OBD offers blank mission files inside WOFF to use as templates for making missions, I wonder if anyone would be interested in a thread/discussion with basic instructions on how to build your own mission. It's time consuming, but flying the reenactment of historical events is fun.

Re: Scenario Missions MOD - 03/10/16 03:06 PM

I would be interested in learning how to do that.

Re: Scenario Missions MOD - 03/10/16 03:07 PM

I would certainly be interested Oldhat.

I like to tinker and you already helped us with info and how to add to the Campaign missions.

Re: Scenario Missions MOD - 03/10/16 05:04 PM

sorry this maybe rather silly, but are these just stand alone missions or will these be integrated in a campagn mode.

Re: Scenario Missions MOD - 03/10/16 05:49 PM

Stand alone, just the rest that come packaged with WOFF.

Please! I have been praying for some form of mission builder, even if it is as non-user friendly as ROF's, given the complexity of the AI, etc.

Alrighty then.... let's do this.

Here are a few pics from my current McCudden scenario...

Yep after downloading I see it, I thought it was a mission generator, that actually can creating missions, like PW-CG is creating missions for RoF.

Unfortunately, I'm not a programmer like Pat. You have the option to manually make a mission file then insert it into the correct folder to see it in your campaign.

Re: Scenario Missions MOD - 03/12/16 03:00 AM

It's 5am and your airbase just got bombed by at least 12 machines. Fly in your E1 as Max Immelman with Boelke and bring them down. Can you do better than what Max had done?

download here

NOTE: I'm still working out timing issues with McCudden's mission, so I decided to make this simple one. Enjoy.

EDIT: download JSGME ready version here

Re: Scenario Missions MOD - 03/16/16 07:39 PM

Download the JSGME ready version here

Included in the full scenario (short missions are both air start):

- 22 Gothas taking off at around 1530 hrs
- Flying over the channel at 10,000 ft after refueling from Nieuwmunster Airfield.
- Entering Essex between the rivers Crouch and Blackwater at 16,000 ft
- Flying towards London, then changing course south from around Gravesend
- Bombing Lympne and Folkestone at 15,000 ft.
- Gothas head back to the Belgian coast flying over the channel at 18,000 ft. Some Gotha stragglers are set to 11,000 ft.
- Most of the Home Defense that were known to have participated in trying to attack the Gothas including:
* Dover: 5 Pups and Leslie's Camel.
* Manston: 10 fighters
* No. 37 Sqd A flight taking off from Goldhanger, B flight from Stow Maries, C flight from Rochford. (8 planes)
* No. 39 Sqd B flight from Suttons Farm, C flight from Hainault, and A flight. (11 planes)
* No. 50 Sqd C flight from Bekesbourne and B flight (13 planes)
* RNAS 4 and 9 Sqn

Patrol routes added for:
- RNAS
*Dover and Manston
*No. 4 and No. 9 Sqn.
- RFC
*No. 37 Sqn from Detling to Goldhanger
*No. 39 Sqn at Eastern edge of London
*No. 50 Sqn from Throwly to Bekesbourne to Dover

There are three scenarios to choose from:

1. The full Gotha mission from takeoff to landing which will last just under 4 hours (realtime). Outcome is good with only a couple of squads engaging the Gothas including the RNAS flights 30 miles North of Dunkirk.

2. A shorter version of the Gotha mission starting after turning back from around Gravesend which will last just under 2 hours (realtime). Outcome here has a bit more engagements, but nothing overly done.

3. The player as Flt Sub-Lieut Leslie chasing the straggling Gothas at 11,000 ft. Only the fight between the Camel and some Gothas are in this one. They will fly until they land at their airbase, so you have plenty of time to stalk.... until the sun sets, of course. This one takes from 30 to 45 minutes depending on how far you stalk them.

Download from here

Polygon Wood was the scene of many air battles during the war. This scenario depicts one such battle that took place on 27 July 1917 where an ambush of 59 allied planes were waiting to attack.

Included features taken from aerodrome forum members:

56 Sqn (4)
66 Sqn (6)
70 Sqn (6)
19 Sqn (6)
32 Sqn (9)
10 RNAS (4)
23 Sqn (12)
29 Sqn (7)
20 Sqn (8) used as patrol bait starting over Menin at 2,000 feet to lure about twenty Albatros scouts to Polygon Wood, where 59 British fighters are waiting.

On the German side
Js 4
Js 11
Js 24
Js26
Js 33

All air starts with three possible pilots to fly:

1. Camels. Wait over polygon wood to ambush the albatros, but don't let the Fe2s who were used as patrol bait to get shot down.

2. Fe2. Run as fast as you can to polygon wood where the ambush is waiting before getting shot down by the large patrol of albatros following you.

3. Albatros. Catch the Fe2s and shoot them down or survive the ambush and make it back alive.

Re: Scenario Missions MOD - 03/20/16 09:01 PM

When a bit over the lines in my Fe2, I looked back, and yes, the trap was well sprung!:

I hung around for a bit, and even got an albatross that was chasing a DH5. After a while, there were a few less planes, and a few more craters:

good stuff, Oldhat!

Re: Scenario Missions MOD - 03/23/16 08:05 PM

Great. I hope you guys find the time to fly them as they are very challenging indeed. This latest addition to the scenario thread involves the raid on Rumbeke which took place on 20 October 1917. There are two flyable pilots - Camel from 70 Sqn "C flight" or an albatros from J2. The German mission is very intense as you can see from the screenshot below because you must leave the field before getting blown to bits. Enjoy.

I have packaged all of my scenarios in this latest download and adjusted a few minor things. You should now see the mission briefing before each scenario. I even managed fix a problem I was having in the Rumbeke scenario and used all the correct plane assignments for each pilot.

Download the JSGME ready version from here and extract into your MOD folder.

Old Hat

Thank you and those who helped with the research. This is really quite the addition to flying WOFF!
Can really appreciate the time and effort involved.
