I think the beta is a separate install. You can probably remove it now that 2.2 is released.

Ed Lewis was live streaming during rollout, and said they had left the beta release running long so he could have something to play on-air while the main servers were down.
As you mention, all done now.
Can't wait to get in game.

Started the download before work, got home and it's still 5 hours to go... 
Amazing to think that the original Elite took up less space than a screenshot of ED.
