SimHQ Brotherhood of Elite:Dangerous answer the call... - 08/17/15 12:24 PM

Apparently now Players group are going to be recognized and will be used in game for minor factions.
No talk yet about owning structures but... could even be.

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=175311

That said I was thinking, especially with some of you ;), to sign in "The Professionals".

Now, that's absolutely not to say that's going to be the official SimHQ group. At all!
Quite the opposite, by any means.

But if anyone felt the need for that, now they can sign up.

Cheers.

All right?
As for Home System I've chosen Nuenets.
It's central, has everything it's necessary very close and doing ferry trips with far away pilots it's going to be GREAT!
biggrin

I'll volunteer to do it!

*everyone else face when reading this---> D:*
Of course this is NOT set in stone and can (and probably will change a lot)

I'll keep this first post updated.

Notice: I'm going to take some time with newer members that wants in. Why?
/terribly serious-cat mode on

I understand everyone wants to be one of the cool guys... This group is NOT one of those.
We're a bunch of guys with kids and a normal life that are in for the giggles while occasionally make some virtual dosh.

Don't just sign up for the hell of it.
'cause everyone will have to pass my test first*.

*DUN DUN DUUUUNNNN*

So, think twice- this will not make people happy maybe but we're here to help newbies to play and HAVE FUN!
We do NOT plan on epic raids to conquest sector of the galaxy.
We do NOT plan on PvP.

We plan to play a game whenever we have time.

For hardcore gaming ----> Thatta-a-Way. Thanks smile

Motto being:
Giggles before dosh. We're called "The Professionals" 'cause we're everything BUT Professionals.

I'm going to mainly play from 22.00 GMT to 01.00 GMT - not everyday, not all the time but basically that's when I'm online.

Add me as a friend or direct message me/find me on SimHQ teamspeak as:
In game: Benjamin K. Master
In SimHQ TeamSPeak: Komemiute

See you in the big black.

The SHQ Pilots Association?

I'm looking for details of how such a group is integrated on the game side, but I'm not seeing it on that thread. Do we know if a group has to associate with a chosen station? Would be interesting to have to support our group (like the Bulletin Board for minor factions now) to drive influence and possible group leadership of the station.

Could be interesting, I'll keep an eye on it.

Re: SimHQ Brotherood of Elite answer the call... - 08/17/15 02:16 PM

So far... details are sketchy, but in the same sub-section of the forums there should be instructions...
Apparently the faction will be bound to an "entity" (easily a solar system).

Working for the faction would improve its influence and therefore make it more "visible"- politically speaking- until it makes into direct support for PowerPlay Powers.

Knew I could count on you! wink
Just- didn't saw you Online in Elite for a while, hope all is good.

@NavyNuke99: "The Professionals" started all a glorious night in DCS some months ago, well- probably over a year ago.

Point being we're all BUT professionals! biggrin
It involved a night mission with a new guy that did drop in the SimHQ DCS server (prolly Wrecking Crew or someother) and being green and listening to us talking "expert" believed we were good! biggrin

We weren't... Well I wasn't.

In random order there was:

-Me jettisoning all the payload while taxing while trying to apply/remove parking brakes.
Killing someone behind me. Could have been Tempus, but not sure.

-Me doing it again.

-Twice more.

-In a cold start, getting three people cursing the sky trying to find in the darkness the switch to turn on flood lighting.

-Me leading the new guy for half an hour of approach to the "Danger Zone" just to be swatted out of the sky by the very first SAM I didn't even see coming well before entering the FAOR. He did great though.

-Me making a disastrous landing because I forgot to lower landing gear.

-Me losing both engines for a misplaced keybinding of the Firefighting foam bottles...

-... without realizing that happened, I flew into the ground with this big grin 'cause I was SURE I could re-lihgt them in flight. (Hint: I couldn't)

And I'm sure I forgot something more.

Originally "The Professionals" were Tempusmuprhy, Petethehatchet, MaceUK and me.
Fudge tried to apply for membership but his ability of:

- killing multiple enemies without being destroyed,
- landing with correct asset and equipment employed,
- being capable of clearing doubts about game mechanics,
- knowledge about switches and SOP in weapon employment, and
- no possible mention of Blue-on-Blue

made him on obvious liability for the group.

PS: Ah I think that was also the time I realized that Tempus is in reality Tony Robinson of Baldrick fame.
I mean- that voice? Unmistakable. biggrin

Your application looks pretty impressive so far. I guess you could be in quite immediately.

Re: SimHQ Brotherood of Elite answer the call... - 08/20/15 02:43 PM

on the elite forum they need to know the following:

Your group name:
Type (PVE/PVP):
Number of members:
Website (if you have one):
Contact name:
Email address:

so we also need to start looking at locations for the group as a base

we also need a spokes person... ( tempus slinks to the background )

looking forward to flying with you all with total professionalism (and a few crashes)

Re: SimHQ Brotherood of Elite answer the call... - 08/20/15 08:10 PM

you have to bind it to a fire group... I have my my trigger on my saitek x52 bound to weapons and my secondary fire bound to the discovery sensor and the kill warrant scanner .. one one each fire group. you have to lock up the target, get within a certain range and hold the button you have bound for the KWS until the scan is fully done
Posted By: DukeIronHand

Re: SimHQ Brotherood of Elite answer the call... - 08/20/15 08:32 PM

Ah. Excellent sir. Thank you.
Got the in-game message to bind it to a fire group so I put it with the weapons...obviously incorrectly!
Just made my second purchase with reclaimed bounty; the best Power Distributor money can buy. Read that this was probably the single best ship upgrade you can make.
Posted By: adlabs6

Re: SimHQ Brotherood of Elite answer the call... - 08/20/15 09:27 PM

Yep, a better power distributor is a big help in charging those three energy capacitors.

BTW, not sure if you have read up on those capacitors, and distributing the little "Pips" between them. Playing with them, you'll see how they influence your systems performance. Putting four pips to "SYS" when you are under fire will supposedly (from what I've been reading) help your shields have up to 2.5x better performance. A considerable boost.

Then move the pips over to "WEP" when it's time to fire, giving those lasers the longest endurance possible.
Posted By: DukeIronHand

Re: SimHQ Brotherood of Elite answer the call... - 08/20/15 09:33 PM

Yes I am up on the pips and power distribution thanks.
Tried it once when trying to escape from one of my two deaths but I died anyway.
It is certainly something I will be experimenting with as I get more stick time.

Yes.
I had better check the map and see what kind of major event the trip will be.
May take me a while to get there too.
Be kind of slick to play Open there and kill trespassing human and NPC pirates.
May have to be the Numbnuts Space Police.
Oh sorry.. Nuenets!

Heading to a station to repair some minor jump damage....oops.

EDIT: Arrgh...was SC'ing to Shriver Station and was interdicted. Blew up my wanted foe for 13500 in credits and got a dreaded "Lost Connection" error.
This is a first and we will see how the game handles this on restart.

Re: SimHQ Brotherhood of Elite:Dangerous answer the call... - 09/27/15 09:12 PM

Yep, I left for Sothis after the Munshin CG wrapped up, myself.

I know the payouts were low, but I did super on just transporting the goods. Earned over $500,000 most round trips, and after 10,500 tons I left having banked more than $21 million.

A fun change of pace doing cargo runs, but still not my favorite thing. I did get to see lots of those cool looking Imperial Clippers while I was down there, though! biggrin

Not sure if I am understanding this registered group/minor faction thing. They said something about eventually elevating a group to Power Play provided it meet some criterias.

Am I right to assume then that this will all transpire in Open Play ? And if that is the case, is the SimHQ Brotherhood currently prosecuting its activities in Open ?

I am not certain on this. Someone has to submit the group for consideration/inclusion into the game, and I'm not even sure that's happened with our yet. And even then, there is nothing that would prevent it from appearing in Group and Solo modes, either.

Then from there, the group will be one of those at the chosen station/system who can move up and down the political/economic ladder. Probably they just replace one of the default "Jet Purple" type factions with the requested player faction details.

I've not heard of player groups reaching Power Play levels, but I do know that local station groups can be aligned with one of the three major powers.

I was just wondering the status of the Professionals group application with Frontier. I was also thinking that maybe we could start a group at INARA. This is a pretty cool site that allows you to track your progress offline, as well as providing peer-fed metadata on the Elite universe. We could also create a group here, and then create our own accounts and keep tabs on each other that way. (I'm in as Home Fries).

I can create the Wing on INARA if anybody is interested.

Just a thought...

CQC! Seriously now... I could tell you a system where there's usually a lot of combat wings and lone wolfs but I casn't have you go there and attack everyone. If however you where willing to only attack certain allingnement players.... wink

On another note I'm allready registred at Inara also I'm already in a wing there, but if we can be in more than one I'll join a SimHQ wing for sure.

Re: SimHQ Brotherhood of Elite:Dangerous answer the call... - 10/18/15 02:10 PM

@ Trooper ... Its about screwing up in the most professional manner. I believe that is a pre-requisite.

Well it was funny with the escorting. Ice said he was being interdicted all the time and I think even lost a type 9. But as soon as I provided escort for him, there was no interdiction for him.

Also just running alongside Ice providing escort I received a wing payment when he cashed in his load. So you get cash for operating as a wing.

That is good to know.

Re: SimHQ Brotherhood of Elite:Dangerous answer the call... - 10/18/15 02:22 PM

so for the escorting "wing" thing it sounds like you have to be in the same system we will have to talk to adlabs .. and set up an "escorting"service ... biggrin

Yep! Thanks for the escort, bogus!

I have lost 3 Type-9s to interdictions. The first one was totally a surprise with an Elite Python. With it being a Python, I knew I was going to die. The next two were from DBS's and they were smart and I was stupid. I did not "throttle-zero" when interdiction starts so my FSD took a while to recharge. Then they would always target my FSD so I'll be about 60-80% up the FSD charge when they take it out. Once the hyperdrive is out, I'm a sitting duck.

I have been interdicted in a similar manner a few other times but I was smarter; I'd either submit or the enemy would be a Sidewinder or an Eagle and I can run away with no problems.

As for wing payment, yes, you do get "free cash" as part of the wing. The beautiful bit is that the money you get is not from my profits.... so it's like just because you're there, you get money. Unfortunately, it seems like there are some limitations... ie, we have to be in the same system or in close-by systems and there seems to be a bit of a delay with the payout.

Anyway, free cash for flying escort so not bad.
