Rudder and Joystick Problems

Rudder and Joystick Problems - 07/14/20 11:46 AM

Hey guys!

I am using WOFF PE on my new machine; everything runs perfect on high Details.

Huge Problem: the rudders and my Joystick do not work properly.

the rudder constantly banks, although I am not giving the command.
So does my Joystick: it moves in all directions, although I am not doing that.

I love the sim, but that is really terrible.
Went through other Forums as well, but Nothing could help me so far frown

so here is my Equipment:

Saitek X52 Professional
Logitech Flight Rudder Pedals

AMD Ryzen 7 2700X 8-Core
3,7 GHz
16 GB
64 Bit
Windows 10 Pro
NVidia Geforce RTX 2070 Super

thanks for your help!!! Hope to get this solved…

Cheers

Sloth Try this:

Work on joystick first when you set up your controllers.

Unbind breaks/unbind rudder on joystick

Unbind all unused items on rudder

Then set up joystick first before anything else.

Check and make sure you clear out the bindings on your joystick rudder twist as well as what jerbear said. I was having an effect similar to this and that fixed it as I was unconsciously twisting the stick which would careen me all over the place.

Re: Rudder and Joystick Problems - 07/15/20 03:16 PM

It may be because you have your joystick plugged into a USB3, a quick search on google has revealed plenty of problems for X-52 Pro users with USB3. Have you tried it on any other flight sims to check if this problem only occurs in WOFF?

Thanks for your help!

1. I have done what Rawlings and jerbear said; no success so far frown

@Rugbyfan1972: I will give it a try.

@Rugbyfan1972

Changing from USB3 to USB2 had no effect on my Problem.. Unfortunately I do not have any other sim to test…

Re: Rudder and Joystick Problems - 07/15/20 05:07 PM

I had to change joysticks. I can't remember exactly when my X52s (have two of them) quit working, whether it was after a rebuild or updating the computer, but neither one will work now on any game. My saitek rudder pedals still work though (go figure), and I changed to a TM1600 stick and throttle set up, which work fine.

Thank you! Just came back frome the store with a new Joystick; no effect.

Any further suggestions guys? smile

Re: Rudder and Joystick Problems - 07/15/20 06:20 PM

This may be a stupid suggestion and also the most simple, but have you tried to calibrate the joystick in Windows? Not in game, but through the hardware manager utility?

Re: Rudder and Joystick Problems - 07/15/20 06:36 PM

Have you checked to see if your USB ports are working correctly?

Re: Rudder and Joystick Problems - 07/15/20 06:40 PM

On my machine, the X52s did not show up at all in the select controller window, it was like they didn't exist.

Re: Rudder and Joystick Problems - 07/22/20 04:30 PM

Thanks for all your help so far!

The joystick (a new old one) now works fine.
The rudder pedals still do not work properly. When I move the joystick (!), the rudder pedals are moving, too.
In the windows-calibration they seem to be allright and I have the latest Logitech-Software for Win 10.

Further help guys?
Thanks so much!

Sounds like you still have a clash of axis. Remove any unused axis from each controller in the WOFF keys setup., and in any other software such as Logitech.

Re: Rudder and Joystick Problems - 09/13/20 04:41 PM

I have the same problem with a Logitech G940, Separate rudder throttle & joystick.
I gave up trying to get it working, I'm now using an old Top gun afterburner 2, it's a bit crap but it works.
But right now I have bigger problems, With slow FPS.
I'm lucky to get 40 fps with almost all enhancements turned off. DX9 is off, Default shaders are set at 4 aircraft, 4 terrain, 3 scenery, 3 effects and 2 clouds.
Sun glare is off, head shake is off, No in cloud fog and Woods at medium.
Using a LG tv, 1360x768 res'.
I have a B450 tomahawk max m/board with AMD Ryzen 5 3600x 6-core processor, AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT, VRAM 8176 MB gddr6.
16 GB 1750 MH [vengeance LPX] ddr4 RAM.
Windows 10 64 bit.
2TB hd, and 460 GB SSD.
I must have something set wrong, as I think this setup should easily cope with this Sim [I think].

Re: Rudder and Joystick Problems - 09/14/20 08:45 AM

You need to go through the FAQ, you need to UNBIND all axis on any controller that won't be used by it in WOFFKeys program. Save as you go. Access via workshop Re Map Keys/Controllers button.
i.e. take rudder off your stick, and then do the same forr the pedals. Unbind all others unused etc.

DX9 off option is really just for testing, something sounds screwed there somewhere. Also best to leave aircraft on "5". Make sure you install DirectX9 fully exactly as the step by step in the FAQ section 4
The FAQ is on our website, support page.

Re: Rudder and Joystick Problems - 09/23/20 06:10 PM

I have followed the instructions, but nothing has changed. I completely unbound EVERYTHING including all the buttons. I took my time rebinding everything, starting with the joystick, But it still nose dives to the left when I throttle down and pulls up to the right when I throttle up. Twice I went through all that faffing about, with no different outcome, so that was another couple of hours wasted. I'll be dead and gone before my joystick works with this game. So had to go back to my old Top Gun Afterburner 2 Again. I don't get this problem with my other Flight Sims, [ all the IL2 great battles and Rise of Flight and Elite Dangerous work fine ]. So for anyone interested, if you have a Logitech G940, and you actually intend to fly planes, then try another joystick because life is too short !.
I did get the frame rate up, Direct X 9 was not installed.

Re: Rudder and Joystick Problems - 09/24/20 02:59 PM

Glad you sorted the fps at least. I know others here have used a G940 before so perhaps someone will chip in - something definitely seems bound to two axis somehow. Maybe other programs are interfering, vjoy, or other controllers (wheels?) etc.

Re: Rudder and Joystick Problems - 10/18/20 12:14 PM

No I was wrong about the frame rates, Still #%&*$#, losing patience with this sim !.
I bet it's too late for a refund ?. Yeah I know!
When you are selling this sim, please tell people with AMD To keep there money and not to bother!.
Or better still get it to work.. I'm lucky to get 40 fps [more like 15 in a dogfight] with almost all enhancements turned down Default shaders are set at 5 aircraft, 3 terrain, 3 scenery, 4 effects and 2 clouds. dx9 set at 2,1,1,3,2. and last column is 3,3,1.
Sun glare is off, head shake is off, No in cloud fog, Aircraft res' norm', woods low, Airfield comp' med, Cloud fog off. VSync = driver settings, AA samples 2.
Also I have never seen more than 3 NME Aircraft per mission which are usually way out of reach. and lets not forget the dry rivers.
Now using a Sony tv, 1920 x 1080 res'.
I have a B450 tomahawk max m/board with AMD Ryzen 5 3600x 6-core processor, AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT, VRAM 8176 MB ddr6.
16 GB RAM 1750 MH [vengeance LPX] ddr4 RAM.
Windows 10 64 bit. Radeon softwaer version 20,9,2. [says it's up to date]
2TB hd, and 460 GB SSD. I am running Voice Attack and OpenTrack IR in the background. and only 1 old controller set up, gave up with G940 [that I can live with, it's the frame rate that is unacceptable].
If anyone has some answers that would be great, BUT simply ''it works on mine'' or ''sounds like you have a problem'', is NOT at all helpful. And I don't have a spare lifetime to go through the FAQs again.
Thanks anyone, maybe...

Re: Rudder and Joystick Problems - 10/18/20 10:49 PM

If having trouble with FPS on AMD vid. cards, it might be worth a shot to check over my "WOFF GPU Tuner" patch as well - might help to bring up FPS to more consistent levels (for the record, I am running two "crossfired" AMD FirePro D700 cards, but on an Intel Xeon processor setup - so I cannot say anything about AMD processors themselves - but the Tuner Patch is free - linked to in my signature below this post).

Also, here is some brief info. regarding the Tuner Patch, taken from one of my other posts:

-----
for the WOFF GPU Tuner patch, recommended install variants are ----->

base install - 1.1.1
ver 1.2 - means base install plus 1.2
ver. 1.3 - means base install plus 1.3
ver. 1.4 - means base install plus 1.4, or base install plus 1.2 plus 1.4, or base install plus 1.3 plus 1.4***

*** base plus 1.3 plus 1.4 is the best graphics-wise, base plus 1.2 is the best fps-wise, base plus 1.2 plus 1.4 is a good compromise between fps and graphics and is the one I mostly run in WOFF

Re: Rudder and Joystick Problems - 10/19/20 05:42 PM

jnhoward, well that would be daft as there are many people running AMD cards. There does seem to be some problems with some drivers or card combinations which may be why you see the river issues you mentioned. I believe it was found some older drivers worked in the past better.
Have you tried a total clean uninstallation of AMD drivers and re-install? Unfortunately PC's being PCs there are many differences/combinations of settings, drivers and so on so hard to say if it should be faster or better.
Make sure you are also not doubling up on the AA, i.e. do not enhance, but rather override WOFF's, or try with WOFF's AA instead (off in driver etc).

Maybe send your system details and all files from LOG folder to support (see last 2 pages of the FAQ for what files etc) and I'll see if there's anything in there.

Re: Rudder and Joystick Problems - 10/30/20 11:00 PM

I thought I would give JSGME a try, but your link dose nothing. Can I use any jsgme download, or is yours specific to this game ?.
Redid the drivers set to to standard rather than gaming mode, helped a bit but will still drop to mid thirty's. I only get this problem in career, seems to stay above 60 fps on quick battle mode.

Re: Rudder and Joystick Problems - 10/31/20 03:00 PM

Check out Mike's Mods page you can get the JSGME there,
https://thatoneplease.co/indexWOFFWOTR.html

Go to WOFF section and go to "tools" it's there at the top.

There's a lot of aircraft in the air in campaign. Set Regional Air Activity in Workshop ("more settings" page) it to "Light " or "Very light". Turn off forced encounters.

If you don't see many aircraft they are there, turn on labels and switch onto "activity" to see many you will miss. If in early war yours it is correct you will see few. In later 1916 onwards you will a see a lot more (and have worse FPS of course) - it also depends greatly on WHERE you are. There are 4 regions - Alsace is very quiet compared to Flanders say. Choose another.
