OT: Wings! Sale on Steam - 09/06/20 05:43 PM

Happy Sunday All!

Just came across this this morning on Steam. If you are looking to scratch the retro flying itch with a remastered version of the old Amiga classic, Wings! it's on sale on Steam right now for about 3 dollars! I've been missing the retro days of Red Baron 3D (which I'm struggling to run on Win10) and this is a lovely little throwback.

Or at least something to keep me busy till WOFF2020 launches! twoweeks

I was very excited by this, bought it, then could not get a basic joystick to work and couldn't get any support at the time. Maybe it's Ok now, actually I must try it again sometimes.

mmm here you go

Says joystick support added but if I remember it still was not

Hiya Pol!

I recently upgraded from my 20 year old (!) Sidewinder 2 to a Thrustmaster HOTAS and noticed some wonky controls when I first started. If you go to the options and then click gameplay options, you'll see a button for set controls. I was able to map over the HOTAS stick super easy that way. Hope you enjoy it! It's a great pick up and shoot option for when you only have ten minutes on your hands.

Thanks CaptSopwith I'll revisit it I have a different stick now anyway, could have been a sidewinder 2 at the time I tried it.

Have you guys tried running it through DOS box...or better yet... An Amiga emulator?

I've run it pretty well on WinUAE. Somewhat tricky to set up, but it runs great.

That's a good idea, James! Wings! was one of the few WWI sims I didn't have, so I went with the remaster. Good clean fun all around!

Which reminds me, I'll have to dust off the old Hell's Angels patch sometime. Do you ever have flashbacks while skinning the Albatros series for WOFF?
