OT : After 13 years - New Build

Long time; no type. I'm still circling.

Glad to see most everyone is still here kicking.

About to fulfill a long time dream; I've finally embarked on building my submerged ramdisk system. Right now, parts in hand for pre-assembly are:

ASUS X99-E WS 3.1
384gb of DDR4 64gb 2400 ECC LRDIMM modules
GTX 2080 ti
Several 970 M.2 NVMe's to configure 4tb RAID 0
** Secret sauce: hybrid Cargill transformer oil for final submersion
* My current HAF-932 pending system setup: new case being still being negotiated.
* My current 850 Gold Cert psu.

I'm waiting for my E5-1660 v3 UNLOCKED cpu to get here from overseas.

I cant believe that my (2006) Core 2 DUO X6800 oc'd @ 3.72ghz has lived this long. And I'm really amazed that my 8gb of DDR 800 oc'd to 1366 hasn't yet melted.

Thanks for taking the time to read. My wife (CFO) doesn't understand any of this except for $, even if everything but the oil and (pending) case are used.

I just got the proposal for the case: apprx $3800.00 !!!!! and maybe then some due to????

It seems that the transformer oil (1 gal.) I've been testing components in requires being kept under a -5 to -10 psi vacuum when the fluid is used to cool electronics in a recirculated manner. Transformers don't recirculate the fluid; they radiate the heat passively. My initial design was to have the submerged components in an inner case with an outer case filled with nitrogen to eliminate any condensation from forming when cooling the fluid. The case would be made out of acrylic with fill ports and electrical connections molded or fluid tight. An HX-1080 remotely located is the heat ex-changer. I can get nitrogen locally.

Going to have to do some serious rethinking (depressed sigh) regarding submersion cooling; and no, the CFO doesn't know about this.
