try tapping F4.....should bring your cockpit back....and just drag those other things around where you want them. Look at the key command list for how to change them or make 'em disappear......it's all good.

Nothing weird there, you made that 
F4 removes the Virtual cockpit, and the dials and text you can drag anywhere using mouse.

Well, it was weird for me at the time!
