WOFF ULTIMATE EDITION UPDATE to 4.24 - Now Available - 10/21/16 12:00 PM

This page is updated with each new update patch

Hi all,

A new update for WOFF ULTIMATE EDITION is available on the website. This update takes it to Version 4.24

The only change is to add support for some newer VBK joysitcks that now add spaces at the other end of their name when reporting to windows...

There are a couple of small but important fixes in this one, in addition to all the other great items in 4.22 and earlier, so update please!
WOFF UE update page

Remember to disable/uninstall any mods before running the update,
and you may need to disable your AntiVirus before and during installation

24th June 2019 WOFF UE V4.24 contents and improvements;

1) Implemented a new version of WOFFKeys to account for poor naming convention of VKB joysticks in their firmware (leading and now trailing spaces in name).

Includes all the following too of course;

Contents and Improvements

Version Version 4.23 4241 - Note includes ther FREE Flyable FOKKER D.VI

1) Fixed a weather issue that sometimes caused aircraft to not land correctly.

2) Fixed some British Home Defence, and German Gotha campaign missions issues that caused an error.

Contents and Improvements

Version 4.22b 4241

1) QC - Fixed an issue with the mouse pointer mode over the enemy skin selection pulldown menu

2) QC - Player position in flight now has two modes - based on workshop selection - by Rank and Always Leads. The leader at the head of the squad is often more likely to be targetted by AI, setting this to based on rank can sometimes allow you to be just another flight member and be less targeted.

3) Campaign Dialogue interface imagery now looks neater with the scrollable outcomes window

4) Fixed an issue with the AI Balloon kill reporting (it was reported on number of Airkills instead of Balloon kills)

5) Because the Player can in some instances no longer issue attack commands in QC (as he is not leader) the AI now carry out the QC Mission Objectives automatically.

6) A limit of a maximum of two aircraft will attack the same target (Ground or Air).

7) Revised LePrieur Rocket effects.

8) Improved AI Balloon Attack capabilities.

9) Improved Searchlight function.

10) Fixed an issue in QC where bombers would only bomb if player selected the default campaign Bombing Payload (Payloadnum = 1)) - Now selection of any payload with bombs instructs the AI to Bomb (Friendly or Enemy)

11) Gothas will now use more bombs on each bombing pass (was single drops)

12) Corrected the aircraft database: changed the BE2c HD version to correctly reflect that it has a fixed gun.

13) Fixed an issue whereby A-Flight when assisting would sometimes be directed to attack the Target irrespective of what the mission directive was or whether the Target was friendly or not (AI will never attack friendly targets so they simply ignored the mission directive).

14) Players flying Gothas will now only attack England on the correct historical dates.

15) Implemented Aircraft startup sounds for all AI aircraft at code level and with 21 associated unique engine startup sounds matching the aircraft engine types.

16) Headshake can now be controlled via workshops - severity and on/off.

17) Implemented latest shader version.

18) Incorporated some extra scenario missions for Britain and Germany

19) Aircraft can now navigate tighter and closer mission waypoints.

20) Increased Morale of QC AI pilots (Skill dependant)

21) Revised AI Fight Vs Flight tactical decision making.

22) Revised Squadron AI base morale settings.

23) AI - Fighters should now engage more frequently.

24) Change QC Fighters to Target Ground 'Structures' when directed to attack Ground Installations to ensure they attack targets of significance.

25) Revised some sounds volumes.

26) RAF BE2 and BE12 series aircraft cooper bomb loadouts reduced to 4 (was 8)

27) Observer allocated to player upon enlistment is no longer always the first Observer - an Observer is now randomly allocated.

28) Observers are now randomly allocated to AI flight members - the Player is allocated the same Observer unless he is killed or not in service.

29) Form up at action directives is no longer circular - the aircraft will form up in transit to next waypoint. Note: form up at non action directives or after action whilst in transit may still be circular!

30) Reduced kills and flying hours of incoming replacement pilots.
Refined this some more - incoming pilots are now pretty poor unless squad is Elite or Good and a fighter squad then they will sometimes have kills
Elite Bomber squads may sometimes have a pilot coming in with 1 kill

31) Time Advance summary now includes Rank and Name of pilots killed and or wounded in sorties.

32) Addressed an issue that sometmes caused incorrect destroyed aircraft accounting.

33) Incorporated the new Fokker DVI Aircraft and associated squadrons for full campaign play. Also Jasta 80B skin, and one Jasta 80b ace skin.

OF COURSE AS USUAL THIS PATCH INCLUDES ALL PREVIOUS UPDATES AS LISTED BELOW:

19 October 2018
Version 4.21 4241

1) Ground Object Collisions Revised: The hardness of the ground object that the aircraft is colliding with is now taken into account together with the speed of impact.

25 September 2018
Version 4.20 4241

1) Fixed an issue with the WOFF Key Bindings software (introduced in V4.19) that prevented it from reading the WOFF install path correctly
This could cause a runtime error.

2) Bonus Feature: Pressing the Escape or Space key now terminates the opening splash smile

17 September 2018
Version 4.19 4241

1) Improved the WOFF Key Bindings to work with VKB Joystick hardware (and clones such as Ravcore Javelin).
The tool also includes other improvements such as handling badly calibrated joysticks better, and has ability to bind more axis as per WOTR Function Bindings tool.

05 August 2018
Version 4.18 4241

1) Allow new sequence of order numbers to be entered and validated after install, or re-install.

3 October 2017
Version 4.17 4241

1) Reduced AI and Gun sound levels

2) Fokker DVIIF model fix - (broken ribs were showing even with no damage).

5)
Fixed issue with Gotha and Nieuport 12 models - flight members were using same skin as player.

6)
Improved AI craft engine sound rendering. Also front gun sounds should now be heard and use spacial sounds.

7)
Improved flags for Germany in campaign menus and mission brief.

10 April 2017
Version 4.15 4241

1) Since 16 Bit Render Depth is no longer available on Windows 8 and Windows 10 operating systems (support removed by Microsoft),
WOFF now defaults to 32bit mode on Win 8 and Win 10. Normally most users won’t see any problem anyway but this is cleaner.

2) DH5 Aircraft fix – the propeller was sometimes not seen in Cockpit view.

3) Incorporates Buckeye Bob's latest Historical weather database updates (6th April 2017)

4) Fixed some unit data errors in a few facilities.

17 March 2017
Version 4.14 4241

(yes there is no 4.13)

Includes new features and fixes;

1) Weather stats now reports the correct mode of weather and associated stats.
2) Fixed a bug whereby switching between Historical Weather and Auto Weather could sometimes render seemingly persistent Auto Weather of rain/heavy clouds.
3) Fixed some issues with the DH4 flying wires
4) Added wheel contact fixes for most of the aircraft to help them sit closer to the ground. Many thanks to Panama Red for these fixes.
5) Included Historical Weather fixes and improvements by BuckEyeBob (many thanks).

6) New Feature: Added Latest DirectX9 shaders from AnKor for WOFF.
This adds Headshake movements for G forces during manoeuvres, and also adds “mouse look” options and mouse zoom functions to WOFF.

Mouse Look Instructions: When flying, press the right mouse button , now moving your mouse can let you look around, and the scroll wheel will zoom in and out. Press right button again to disable the mouse look/zoom and use as a normal mouse pointer.

If you have Naturalpoint’s TrackIR or other headtracking you can still use the zoom function as above, simply look around using TrackIR without moving the mouse, then right mouse click to use the wheel on the mouse only to zoom in and out.

The D3D8.ini file in … \WOFF\WOFFScenery\Shaders directory will be updated with new settings as shown below.
You can also change the behaviour or disable the mouse look completely by editing that file in a text editor (make a backup first).
Note their default values will be applied if a setting is missing.
new settings in d3d8.ini;
;Offset and Rotation Spring controls how much the view resists the acceleration, lower values make the view deviate from forward/center more and return slower.
OffsetSpring=12
RotationSpring=24

;Sort of "anti-damping". Higher values will make the view shake more and respond to smaller changes in speed.
OffsetResponse=6

;Controls zoom increment/decrement steps. Valid values from 1 to 50 - 20 is the default value for WOFF.
ZoomInStep=20
ZoomOutStep=20

;Smooth zoom speed. Zoom still changes step-wise, but transition between steps is smooth. Range of values 0 to 10. Set to 0 to disable smooth zoom.
ZoomSpeed=5

;Range 0 to 10. Value of 0 disables mouse look entirely.
MouseLookSpeed=5

; Set to 0 to disable acceleration effects.
HeadShake=1

; Time in seconds before mouse look automatically returns to centered view.
MouseLookResetDelay=5

UPDATE: 28th March 2017;
We also added a small optional update for the weather fixes and update from BuckeyeBob.

26 October 2016
Version 4.03 4241
