For your viewing pleasure and to help tide the cold dark days until WOFF is finally upon you, we bring you a few new reveals and goodies in the form of a new movie...
Re: NEW PREVIEW MOVIE 4 ! * * * - 02/10/1311:22 PM
Gee, and I'm the first to see it! I was just about to go to bed, and now you gave me fever. A hot fever can be nice sometimes - when the phantasies cardwheel in your mind, you need no drugs, and this may best the next best thing to having WOFF on my rig.
Great little movie - first thing I noticed were Creaghorn's great new gun sounds - the distinctive Pop! Pop! Pop! of the Lewis, and the Klinck!Klinck!Klinck! of the "Spandaus". Boy, I'm longing for WOFF even more now!
The feller who flew the kites for this film must have been an early Kamikaze - or was he always out of ammo? Mmuahahahahahaaaa!!!!
Re: NEW PREVIEW MOVIE 4 ! * * * - 02/11/1303:26 AM
The crew running from the albatros you strafed....such a fantastic detail. The sounds and the visuals, that crunching wood sound when you hit other planes, fantastic! I can't wait!
Re: NEW PREVIEW MOVIE 4 ! * * * - 02/11/1307:37 AM
I didn't see anyone running from that Albatros, redpiano... you must have misinterpret the dirt spikes... Anyway, did I see individual skins in that Sopwith Pup take off sequence? Or the differently marked skins (2,3) were just "aces" like in OFF? The new GUI looks fantastic and what to say about the skies, the aerodromes and the overall "I was there" impression!
Re: NEW PREVIEW MOVIE 4 ! * * * - 02/11/1309:29 AM
Watched it again in highest resolution; it is so brilliant that I can watch it full screen, which I recommend. For all who may not know: click on the toothed wheel at the bottom under the video screen, select the highest (HD) resolution, and right of that, the middle or the right frame, to get medium size or full screen.
After flying another sim a lot lately, which has a more modern visuals/graphics engine, I had thought WOFF could not reach up there. The video proves me wrong. Even though the visuals may not been that modern, it is the overall touch and atmosphere, the harmonious tuning of the whole design - and something I can't quite put my finger on - it is the total of the feelings, which creates a world, which is really there, and for which I still haven't found a better word than "totally immersive".

It's been mentioned we get skins other than aces...

OFF and WOFF beat the other sim in the graphics department hands down when it comes to terrain and skies..
Re: NEW PREVIEW MOVIE 4 ! * * * - 02/11/1311:23 AM
First, thank you very, very much for taking the time to put this together and share it with us Pol. I know that you guys are a small Dev team and taking the time to put together such movies must put a dent in your production schedule, so please know that it is greatly appreciated.
Second, it may be a movie about "small glimpses", but those glimpses say alot about how much more immersive you have made WOFF. The little details like the sounds made when two planes collied has been greatly improved. Watching the wings rip away from a downed fighter and seeing them float past was wonderful. The distinct sounds of gunfire between Allied and German planes is fantastic. The crash scene effects are awesome. Of course the cockpits and terrain are gorgeous. All in all, it blends extremely well into a very believable world.
High production values, high quality artwork and sounds all look like it will lead to high flying adventure for a very long time to come. Can't wait. My sincerest hopes WOFF will be able to ship in 2013!

Paarma, your Albatros D.V skins are looking great, Sir! If I still make many own skins in WOFF, then that is solely because I love making skins so very much.
Re: NEW PREVIEW MOVIE 4 ! * * * - 02/11/1301:05 PM
Indeed the Albatros D.V skins looked superb! Only one question, though... The external model as well as the in cockpit view (which looked so advanced over the OFF's one, BTW ) seemed to be of a D.Va! (minus the braces, but they were not mandatory, anyway) Is it kind of place holder till the real D.V 3D is finished?
Re: NEW PREVIEW MOVIE 4 ! * * * - 02/11/1310:11 PM
For those of you who might have missed it, I noticed a few very nice features in the WOFF Manager.
First, we can clearly see a Multiplayer option (circled in red).
Second, we can see individual flight members load outs, ammo and fuel is changable by the player. Third, we can also see a graphic description of what type of formation you wish to select for your flight.
Plenty more goodies in the video, but those struck me as being particularly cool and exciting even amongst all of the eye candy and sound effects improvements.
Re: NEW PREVIEW MOVIE 4 ! * * * - 02/12/1312:03 AM
It often does in a forum - cause we still cannot transport the emotion and the grimaces the "speaker" would make. But I would have thought Columbo IS funny enough?
Re: NEW PREVIEW MOVIE 4 ! * * * - 02/12/1301:18 AM
You know with all the advancements being hinted at and glimpsed with WOFF, I can't wait to see what they have done with the AI. Somewhere Pol had remarked to (I believe it was) Redpiano that it would take a lot more than one virtual life to Beta-test WOFF. It seems OBD may have some very dangerous opponents waiting for us in the air.
I can see myself taking some time off work when WOFF finally ships. Just looks like too many improvements to not want to dive in and try to "experience it all".
WOFF and The Elder Scrolls Online are about the only things on my "Radar" for the moment.

Yes, I am thinking the same. Not that all enemy AI is very dangerous. Rather, that many are careful, many veterans, and only some are really dangerous. But you may feel too secure only once, when you meet them, and you're getting shot down. This would force us to fly much more carefully and most aware. It would grow the victory list much slower and never so high as before. It would be so much more like the real thing.
Re: NEW PREVIEW MOVIE 4 ! * * * - 02/13/1310:29 PM
Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeetttttttt...come on give us the toy Pol.... Also i see you( or whoever is flung) do a lot of "Kamikaze" stuff.....Banzaiiiiiiiiiiiii!! Being flying over Malta, with Macchis lately, can't wait for WOFF.....
Re: NEW PREVIEW MOVIE 4 ! * * * - 02/16/1309:08 AM
Maybe it should be "listening forward to"?
However - I feel the same. Good movie scores make so much of the total of a great film. And I still remember the opening title themes of all good TV series I have seen. Matt's score for OFF is not only an acoustic but also emotional signature feature, without which OFF would have still been the great WW1 air combat sim it is, but nevertheless a lot poorer.
Re: NEW PREVIEW MOVIE 4 ! * * * - 02/16/1309:38 PM
how do you accompany a world war? that was the task. The aim is for it to be one of the main scores of the gaming year, standing at around 2 hours of full orchestra and choir.
Re: NEW PREVIEW MOVIE 4 ! * * * - 02/17/1301:14 PM
sadly no, and even if they did, I'm not the sort of person they'd pick. There are a few companies that can recognize what I can do, but those are decreasing with time.
Re: NEW PREVIEW MOVIE 4 ! * * * - 02/17/1301:56 PM
Sounds like everywhere - tough to find someone who cannot only recognise the quality of your work, but who is even willing and able to pay the money it's worth. I wish you all the good luck you need, Mat - I hear the potetial and quality, and I'm sure you will get a big chance one day.
Re: NEW PREVIEW MOVIE 4 ! * * * - 02/18/1302:03 PM
Matt's scores are really great. they create a antiwar feel of seeing the airwar as it was. a dangerous place where one rather not wants to be. a mixture of: "there is hell out there and i'll not make it out alive for sure..." and: "but if it has to be, then rather in the air fighting, than on the ground with the poor bloody infantery. at least i migh die there with grace...sort of". unlike most scores in games, which sound rather glorifying.
btw. in the vid there are several new features missed, yet. c'mon guys, take a look again.
Re: NEW PREVIEW MOVIE 4 ! * * * - 02/19/1308:48 PM
Several new features missed? I'm still waiting for an answer on my Albatros question...
(the Albatros D.V we see seem to be D.Va skinned as D.V)

Elephant I'm not going to answer it - and we can't answer all questions in detail, too little time to micro read and comment. All things are still being worked on, including Albatros craft and video edits are across multiple flights, craft, times.
Actually, the craft was a DV later version in the shots as far as I remember but yes could be more than one type there.
Re: NEW PREVIEW MOVIE 4 ! * * * - 02/19/1311:24 PM
I don't want all of the answers damn it! I want to open my presents on Christmas Day (figuratively speaking, of course) and be suprised time and time again at all the new "toys" I get to enjoy!

me too!! Thats the problem with most games now..before it's even released you know every little detail so nothing surprises anymore.
Re: NEW PREVIEW MOVIE 4 ! * * * - 02/21/1303:38 PM
actually i think the same. i also like to find out things by myself. was pointing out small hints which are revealed in the latest vid of course and therefore are no surprise for those seeing them. for those people not seeing them, even better
Re: NEW PREVIEW MOVIE 4 ! * * * - 09/16/1301:05 AM
I turned the music and audio off.
What I saw was still flat turning aircraft in a spin when viewed form a distance, not quite realistic but better. Not sure whether the background or the aircraft math model is not quite there. The rendering of the engine fire was good, but seemed a bit transparent
Re: NEW PREVIEW MOVIE 4 ! * * * - 10/01/1307:28 PM
I guess Pol was so much in love with his new damage model, that he found it a waste only to shoot the craft down. And watching the crushed bits and the flames, it is understandable.

How could you turn off the music? Good heavens, man. The music is a big part of the immersion factor. Milne's scores are brilliant. It makes me want to play the sim.
