Lightning Strikes - 10/24/20 12:45 PM

I've been flying the IL-2 P-38 Scripted Campaign "Lighting Strikes".

It's pretty fun.

I've just started it and I find it very hard to maintain formation with the leader. if I use Autopilot the throttles are constantly moving full travel 0% to 75% just to stay in formation, this does not seem realistic but I usually just use AP to target and then find my way back to base after Mission Complete.

I make it a point to fly formation manually for a few minutes after a manual take off but then go to AP.

Apparently the leader chooses a specific speed to maintain rather than a specific power setting causing everyone to constantly adjust throttle. Why they have to make such wild, 0-100%, changes I don't know. Just a limitation of the AI I suppose.

Oh, and thank God for time advance! Some of those missions are quite long.

Yes at least up to 4x usually 2x but at least you do into the action faster.

Will have to check this one out. Long Boring flights are my thing. It' is why I always liked flying P-38 missions on the Slot/Solomons map.
