Removing air intake covers

Hi gents

How should I remove the air intake cover plates in the UH-1H?

Any ideas?

I'd guess tweaking the alpha channel of the texture part which correspond to the Air Intake.
I did like that.

I did it. I created a transparent DDS as the cover texture and all I get is a black cover plate, but no "invisibility"
