Star Trek Bridge Commander 1 & 2

Finally found a new copy of the first game packaged with some kind of nvidia 3D glasses set up (for CRT monitors LOL).
Still early in the game but I'm LOVING it! I started searching some for any HD textures mod, but right away got sidetracked when I saw something about a fan-made sequel.

Shows a countdown to release of 11 weeks and 6 days. I hope that's true, but I haven't gotten to go through their forum yet due to registration hurdles.

A little more looking around shows there's some drama going on with this and questions about the source of the material and licensing etc.
Not holding my breath.

Certainly one of the better ST games, if not the best (I haven't played Klingon Academy though).

As for modding, you're lucky, I believe it's one of the most modded games out there, especialy considering the niche market it's targetted at (or maybe because of it as FS2 has showed). Not only HD textures, there's a whole lot of gfx mods, DX9 wrappers, ship models, conversions, etc.

Go nuts.

The nanoFX is highly recommended.

While BC had Patrick Stewart and Brent Spiner doing the voices of their characters (and a lot of ST alum playing other roles, but not the ones they were seen as on TV or film), Klingon Academy had David Warner and Christopher Plummer playing their ST6 roles.
Also, as a prequel to ST6 the story was very good.

BC was much better than Starfleet Academy though. Sure it had Takei and a cameo from Shatner (AFAIK the last time he dressed up in a Starfleet uniform), but mostly it was community theater actors with a poor story and poor gameplay.



The Jedi Master

Excaliber does look pretty good. I hope it doesn't become one of those "never finished" projects after people get excited about it. I'll look into that BC mod, and other recommendations are appreciated. It's almost TOO MANY to know what to use.
