Active radar homing missiles - 12/01/01 03:48 PM

Is it fair modelling ARH misssiles (such as the aa-12) on platform like the mig29 or the su27?
As far as I know these weapons today are little more then prototypes.
Besides It's intended to be used neither on su27 nor on mig 29 (www.fas.org).
I'm afraid that their massive use coulde negatively affect realism.

What's your opinion?

There has been report that R77 would be sold to Malaysia (to equip its MiG29) which led Washington to allow AMRAAM sells to Taïwan, if I'm not mistaken .

Concerning the ability of russian Su27 to fire R77 (or R27AE/EM) I still can't find information wether their fire control was really upgraded (to fire ARH) or not as it was programmed to.

Sparfell, thanks for your reply.
BTW where can one find info about weapons other than technical characteristics?

I mean, for example the user countries or their production status.
