Want To Fly RB3D again

Want To Fly RB3D again - 10/05/15 04:40 AM

RB3D was the first sim I bought, way back in'98. Flew it religiously for years, both as an individual and as part of the RAC crowd. Luv'd it.

Lately I've had the urge to once more jump into the cockpit. Bought the Red Baron Pack from GoG, which works quite well on my Windows 7 system. Now have to urge to find all those revamped planes made by the experts of SWWISA (although that site is long gone).
Charles de Thielt, PatW, Cloudnine, Baron, Ron, Panama Red, zintech - all those gifted guys works now seem to be lost.

Don't suppose anyone knows where I might find them, do they? And the Western Front Patch?

Cheers

If you use the internet archive...you can get to a lot of old sites that are long gone and many of the downloads have been archived.

I made a little tutorial on how to do it here:

http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/4147996/Using_the_Internet_Archive_to_

I went ahead and did this for the Western Front patch for ya...the download works here:

http://web.archive.org/web/20120828002535/http://www.swwisa.net/wfp/downloads.html

There might be some active sites that still host this file...but it's just easier to use the web archive in some cases.

Just so you're aware...WFP's date based plane swap system required von Tom's campaign manager and it doesn't work on a 64bit OS. I have manually swapped the files before...so it can be done.

There is a utility called RB3d patch manager that does work...it can be found on Al's page here:

http://www.redbaron3d.net/

Scroll down to the downloads and you will find it.

Good luck!

DOH!

I just noticed that Al's page that I linked for the RB3D patch manager has the WFP as well...so either link will work for downloading the WFP.

Fantastic Force10, I really appreciate the help. Looks like I have some study to do tonight! biggrin

I have RB3D installed under 32bit, so hopefully Campaign Manager will work.

Yess!I am absolutely with you that Red Baron 3d is Best ww1 sim ever.
Same game with new age standards would be enough for me.

Best regards Paroni from Finland

The original Red Baron was my entry into the world of flight simming and man, was I hooked! The only class I ever missed in college was because I was in an epic dogfight against Mick Mannock and his three amigos! Red Baron 3D was another huge time soak for me. If you can't get it running and depending on your computer specs and finances, I have found Wings Over Flanders Fields to be the true successor to the Red Baron line, I think some of the modders that worked on the Red Baron superpatch are involved in it. It has that same "Join the war for any side and fly the entirety of it" feel of Red Baron, with of course, much updated graphics. salute

Spent hours upon hours flying this sim. When I first started I even kept my own logbook to record my careers. dizzy
