I'm not even disappointed. I'm just happy to see SABOW getting some love. Can you share what's in the pipeline? And is there any chance we'll ever see a playable IFV DLC?

Western Front.. ya. It would sell vary well. or could.

Normandy OH GAWD NO.

Heres why....

Gravi games huge focus is on historical battles. In Normandy if you do a historical battle you end up with a incredibly lope sided force structure. There was zero chance after D day for the Germans to actually win. The amount of material available to the Western Allies stacked the deck so greatly that there was no way Germany had even the most remote chance to win. You really want something more close to the middle where either side can pull out a victory.....historically. After all, the whole point of waiting to 1944 for the invasion of France was to make it virtually impossible to get thrown back into the sea. In 1943 the Germans probably could have. Not enough of everything yet. By 1944 no way after the initial beach heads where secured.

North Africa or Italy offer the best bets for a historically balanced game. Normandy is more akin to playing as France in 1940. Interesting for sure, but who would want to play France?

Of course its not. But a game that pushes historical correctness would you want to play Germany in April 1945? Or maybe some Poland in 1939? The player needs the ability to actually win or at least stalemate the enemy. GTOS or Mius you get into the situation with unit force structure is as close to reality as it was per history. Its not CM where the mission designer slaps some units in a scenario and says its X battle. That is fine, but not how Gravi works for the most part. Well except for the DLC shield of the Prophet.

Look at default GTOS. Folks take on the 320th infantry in one campaign. They are cut off and it is probably the 2nd hardest campaign in the series. They complain like crazy about it. Skilled players can pull out the victory conditions. But it takes experience and skill to do so. Make an entire side like that in all campaigns is not the gravi way.

In closing... You are making a game with historical correctness as much as possible. You can not readily throw out the needs of being a game for the historical fact in this case. Or in the case of Normandy every German campaign would end up being hold till dates. Which is fine IMO. But would get stale. Best if the pendulum can swing either way. Which you certainly get in the pre 43 to say 41/42 era. Germany had pretty much lost ww2 by summer 43. Basing a DLC on something like Dunkirk would be cool. I would love that actually. But not a whole game like how GTOS or Mius go about things. Going back to Normandy. You play German side. you get a company of tanks. The US/UK get like 3 or 4 battalions worth of tanks. Normandy did exactly what is was suppose to do. Overwhelm and destroy German forces in the west. It was as far as unfair as you could get in industrial era war. Great for that. Bad for a game with historical correctness.
Posted By: FlashBurn

Re: Muis front - 06/16/15 02:03 PM

Another thought.

If I where Graviteam I probably would not make a game solely focused on early 1944 or later. With each installment the game timeline moves back. We started with mid 42 with Kharkov 1942. Then Gravi did GTOS's predecessor Kharkov 43 which you guessed it, focused on early 1943. GTOS focused on late 42 to spring 43 with a few DLC's focusing on summer 42. Mius is going to be summer 43. This one is the turning point of the war in the east. Not sure if another stand alone game after it would be worth it. Maybe best to just make DLC's for Mius that expand out to winter/spring 1944 and then move on to other fronts/wars. Because in theory it would be cool sauce to fight in summer 1944. But reality is that a whole game of your battalion of panther tanks getting hit with 6 battalions of T34's and IS tanks might actually get stale. As a large expansion. Yes.. an entire game. Not so sure.

Re: Muis front - 06/18/15 12:48 AM

If it's a necessity to have balance, I'd vote either Tunisia or early Bulge battle (as long as overcast lasted).

If balance is not mandatory, I'd play Germany spring 45 west front, either as german or ally. Normandy not so much, bocage battle would have me die from a heart attack at first ambush.

I assume it hasn't stalled given that Andrey posted those images
of the AT Guns, although the information has been few and far between.

To be honest, if I wanted to get people interested in the release of
an upcoming game I would be posting a lot more images / videos etc...
to create a buzz and have more people discussing it and therefore
achieve better sales.

I had expected this out before this time last year but obviously it
has taken a back seat to other things.....Unfortunately!!!

Even a rough ETA and some more images would suffice for now.

I could be wrong here. But Mius might be going 64bit. At this point the only thing I can think that is stalling is waiting for new assets/getting money to pay for new assets. I would assume at least one map is complete by this point. Just guesses on my part.

To find and fix significant bugs, we need to engage in targeted testing under developers control. Ie the developer says where and what to see -> tester looks this and trying to get a bug/glitch and establishes a clear path to reproduce it. Only in the area where the developer needs - this is important point.

Developer team is too small but testers much more until the new ones are not needed, now.

And of course, not need naive test when developers are bombarded with all sorts of spontaneous bugs/features/players opinions etc. You have time to do this after release smile

P.S Any sorts of early access it is the way to get money (for example, if you do not want to release game at all smile ), not to test the game.

P.P.S Please dont read any sort of "developing games for dummies", all that is written "for the players" how to make the game, it has little to do with reality, sorry

Graviteam Tactics: Mius-Front - tactical battalion level combat simulation. Action takes place in the summer of 1943 at Mius river and Saur-Mogila tumulus area of over 140 sq. km. Four large-scale operations for the Red Army and Wehrmacht.
Release Date: Coming soon

Steam page: http://store.steampowered.com/app/312980/?snr=1_5_1100__1100

About This Game
Graviteam Tactics: Mius-Front - tactical battalion level combat simulation. It is a sequel to Graviteam Tactics: Operation Star and Achtung Panzer: Kharkov 1943.

Game is comprised of two modes:
• Operational - turn-based mode where you can shift and concentrate forces in the chosen directions, resupply and replace units, repair and refuel vehicles.
• Tactical - real-time mode where you are conducting fire combat with the enemy, capturing territory, destroying vehicles and the enemy manpower.

Four large-scale operations for the Red Army and Wehrmacht with realistic organizational structure. The campaign features more than 100 detailed vehicles produced in USSR, Germany, US and UK. Over 140 sq. km of realistic landscapes were reconstructed from topographical maps and photo and video materials.
• New enhanced UI: streamlined interface of various panels, radial orders menu and other enhancements.
• Interface appearance and customization: three variants of appearance are included, customizable unit markers (Red Army, Wehrmacht, NATO).
• High replayability and advanced AI, which selects the best strategy based on behavior, not a predetermined script.
• Advanced management of forces in the operational phase: reinforcement strategies and management of reserves.
• Statistics keeping: performance of each unit is recorded (kills, losses, awards, etc.). After each battle, damages and condition of forces and vehicles are shown in the after battle statistics.
• Battlefield simulation: realistic vision devices, smoke screens and flares, creation of trenches, explosion craters. Remnants of previous battles remain on the battlefield until the end of operation.
• Realistic soldier behavior: each soldier has several essential parameters, such as experience level, stamina and morale, which influence their behavior and effectiveness.
• Detailed weapon modeling and realistic ballistics: bullets and projectiles follow ballistic trajectories, taking wind, temperature and other parameters into account.
• Advanced armor penetration: modeling based on ballistic histograms without simplifications of probabilistic methods, generation of secondary fragmentation fields takes into account many parameters, such as the change of the field shape in space, fragments and armor characteristics, armor thickness and damage conditions.
• Complex vehicle damage system: engine, suspension, sights, weapons and targeting mechanisms can be damaged separately, affecting the combat capabilities.
• Destructible environment: almost everything can be blown up and destroyed, from landscape surface and buildings to vehicles and enemy defensive installations.
• Advanced control of the off-map artillery, featuring various fuse settings and shell types.
• Formation and movement modes: lines and columns, movement by road and covertly, infantry following behind tanks, setting a delay, fire sectors, etc.
• Automatic smoke screen laying: units set up smoke screens when enemy is spotted.
• Dynamic change of the time of day, light sources and weather effects, influence the course of battle, visibility and area passability.

Also, you can view detailed info on each unit in the interactive encyclopedia. Interactive tutorial explaining most aspects of the game is included.

So 5th of March it is....

Fantastic!!! I can get in some game time over the weekend then. Is it only available on Steam...?

Any chance of seeing some images of German 88's as I believe I saw a silhouette on one of the
game buttons...

I know I asked way back before Operation Star and I gather it is still not implemented, would be
nice to see a tank turret get blown off as did happen on the odd occasion...

Looking forward to this one.
