M60 vs T62 (In game)

M60 vs T62 (In game) - 03/14/15 09:25 PM

Just a question about what players think about the M60 and the T62 in game.

Just wondering which one, you as the player, think is the best. And of course for what reason.

I prefer the T62 but I don't think it is better than the M60.

Also. Do you think that the smaller profile for the T62 is an advantage. So far I have not seen this.

Enjoy the weekend.

I prefer the T62 overall in SABOW. It is easier to find hull down locations with the t62. And with it gets on a mild reverse slope only showing its turret is vary hard to kill.

BUT... where range is longer the M60a1 OWNS with its range finder. Finding hull down places for the M60 in the Iran campaign is freaking hard. But when you can and distances are long its quite good.

The most one sided victory I had so far was with the M60A1 but that was also at close range. My gunnery at this stage is so bad that it makes it easier for me to use the T62. I just set range to 1000m as default and go to gunner position.

I like the speed of the T62 as well.

The M60's bigger ammo load and the fact that your site stay on target the moment that you fire is also great.

I think that the open terrain in Iran-Iraq campaign generally plays in the hand of the M60 over the T62.

In regard to Angola. What I read from South Africa's side was because of the vegetation the higher profile of the South African Olifant and Ratel was actually an advantage.

In many cases the South African vehicles could spot the other vehicles first because of this.

Also engagement ranges was very close and both side tanks had no trouble penetrating each others' armour at that range.

M60 is more handful and better.. but its easier to be hit

for the iran campaign the m60 is very good tank, you have big ammunition load and variety of different ammunition, one of the most important thing i found in the tank is the m2hb 12mm gun on the commanderer's cupola.. it's very effective when engaging infantrymen at hard weather, and its on the top of the tower, so you can see enemies easier..

i never ever liked the m60 in tank fighting especially in the hard terrain and weather, it is hard to lock the range.

t-62, when in doubt all u have to do is load the SABOTs and openfire. very supreme velocity = no miss. also the HEAT guntank of that tank is very good, even against infantries.

but i very much don't like the t-62 in facing infantries... it's very vulnerable, you have poorer situation awareness, poor vision abilities, you can't see from elevated, the tank is very low, and only have the 7.62mm gun for the tower to kill infantries (dont waste antipersonnel shells, only fire them on prepared enemy defenses, or where you think there is troopers, or to clear a trench or in night fighting, use them wisely). the t-62 i find good VS tank, but poor VS trooper, M60 is not-wise.

be careful in angola, be firecely on defensive during daytime, and dig in very quickly in thick brush and defend, at night-time, launch counterattacks, it's a hard life with the cuban legions in angola.

The US Army considered the T-62's gun more accurate than that of the M60A1 within 1500 meters, but less accurate at greater range In Game I think the T-62 is the better tank in real life both tanks have there issues but the fact the T-62 can not Track a Target while it is reloading IMO gives the M-60A1 the advantage. also the low silhouette of the T-62 gives it an Advantage while Attacking but in defence its main gun depression is not as good as the M60

yes.. i also forget to say that the t-62 depression of the gun is really bad. but the small size is good to fit into trenches.. i do this alot in the cmpaign in ishan-al-khamarra bumps, go into the bumps/hillshape and dig in your tanks in there. very leading positions.

If you do not fight at distances closer than 500 meters, the -3 degrees almost not play anything.

but if u are searching for a nice position to hide, or if u are fighting on the move and imagine you are behind a ridge and driving up to fire, then your gun cant depress to see the enemy

you have to drive the whole tank over the ridge so you can fire, it's an issue

personally i would not do it i would retreat and reposition or disengage, but the poor gun depression can put you in a scary situation sometimes

Yea, with the T-62 I try to avoid heights. The ditches of Susangerd are perfect for it's small size, and its 115mm gun pokes holes in everything. Honestly, going head to head it's superior to the M60a1 in this game. I find I'm perfectly comfortable facing a numerically superior enemy in a T-62 but in an M60 you need to be on the ball and have perfect situational awareness. Especially in the attack, the M60 requires numbers to suppress and subdue an armored foe.

That being said, the rangefinder in the M60 is fantastic, and it's pretty easy to turn it into a Self Propelled artillery piece.

When dealing with infantry, the M60 really takes the cake. The canister rounds and enclosed .50 cupola really make it a maneater. The T-62 is generally better used against mechanized or armored targets.

At night I think the M60 still wins. The T-62 doesn't have a rangefinder, but is fantastic at close range. In the M60, however, ambushing unsuspecting armored vehicles 400 yards away can easily turn the tide of even the most lopsided battle, as long as the IR sights work.

While the urban environment in SABOW is almost non-existent, the high profile of the M60 really makes it easy to bypass the walls that surround the various villages.

In the end, the M60 is well rounded while the T-62 is an excellent tank killer, and boasts excellent armor and survivability. It never fails that I am forced to pump them full of HEAT rounds 5 or 6 times before they go up, while single hits on the M60 are just as likely to turn it into a roman candle as they are to be absorbed by the armor. It's a giant gamble
