Battlefiles 5 will be in WW1?

I wouldn't mind another BF in WW2 and a lot of people want that too. I guess we'll see.

Probably will be a sniperfest. Players running across open ground, trying to capture trench checkpoints and snipers and machine gunners mowing them down.

I'll probably get it anyway...if it's more like battlefield and less like battlefront.

Would love a return to WWII for Battlefield. WWI could be interesting too.

Whatever they do, it will still be the same run and gun snipefest...

Battlefield fits WWI tactics and the theme in general like ketchup fits on a blueberry pie. Sounds like a worse idea than that cops and robbers one.

At least the air won't be overpowered.....

Well, if the theater isn't limited to the Western Front, then there are all sorts of possibilities. Africa, Middle East for example. Haven't read the games radar information.

Oh man, I did suffer from Helo suppression WAAAY too much.

I'll believe it when I see it. Could be fun for pilots but I don't want to sit in trenches with a single shot rifle.

Bad idea. WWI does not have a wide mainstream appeal.

For a whole game, being able to choose from six guns and no explosives would wear thin pretty quickly.

However, if there was a WW1 map/mission as part of a story/flashback, that would be fun.

I really liked the levels of COD/BF that were set in the past - BFBC2 that started on a WW2 Pacific island, and Black Ops 2 partially set in the 1980s come to mind.

That could be a good thing given how far away today's 'Battlefield' games are from 1942/BF2 since they became watered down, more accessible and ultimately nowhere near as good imo.

If I recall there was a professional level WW1 mod for 1942 along the lines of Project Reality which was quite brilliant.

BF3 was my last call for the BF Series...

BF, BF2, BF:V, BF3 were great,

BF4 was a bug ridden mess, even when given to me for free by EA I refuse to play it.
I personally dont care if they fixed everything, I've grown away from their style of play, and back to simulation/tactical.

Same reason I grew towards DCS from other Simpler sims..

There is already a team-based ww1 fps now, it's called Verdun, it's actually pretty fun. If battlefield goes this route i'd try it. BF is supposed to be more "team oriented" right? perfect game, lone wolf it over a trench and see how well that goes for you haha. Weapons that are difficult to see targets with at a distance, nothing that you can "spray and pray" with, sounds good to me.

They're not going to dramatically change the gameplay flow for the sake of a setting, it's not going to be any more teamwork oriented than any other BF game. That's like slowing down a Call of Duty game to be like SWAT; you don't do that with established IPs already raking in the dough.

It's not going to be WW1. Rumor now is that it'll be "near future".

I'd have preferred a return to WW2, perhaps another time.

But, at least it's not going to be CoD, which is purportedly going to be a "space" shooter. Ugh.

I cannot imagine how Battlefield WWI would be fun and even the tiniest bit thematically accurate (obviously it could not be technically accurate in the least).

I new WWII Battlefield would be welcome, however, though preferably with the weapons and vehicle performance differentiated and at least partly restricted to one side or the other, as in the first couple of Battlefield offerings.

I'm sure we'll find out for sure in the next month or two. By June (E3) at the latest. Although I don't think EA is going to E3 this year. I heard they're doing their own show.

Official announcement tomorrow

That's a bummer, I was actually planning to buy BF5 (it's like Madden, skip every few years since it's the same crap). WWI is pretty ridiculous enough to not be interesting.

There is an announcement tomorrow (Friday)......coinciding with the Nvidia Pascal news.

Well, so much for what I heard. LOL.

I'm actually pretty excited about this. Looking forward to the beta, hopefully sometime this summer.

The trailer was impressive. Can't wait to try it.
