MH-60 and HH-60 or both was recently discussed since we want to put one into the Gunnery Range as part of the background furniture with a view to rolling it out as a flyable at some later time. We don't want to throw in a bunch of helicopters into a game as you end up with a not very coherent game. I'm all for 'less is more' and focus on more detail for very few specific airframes which complement existing ways of playing the game.
- Does it fit the game with regard to joint operations (paired with attack helicopter ops) - Does it duplicate an existing role? - Can we re-purpose it for other/later projects? e.g. Combat-Rescue? - Construction time.
After consideration at some point there will likely be an 'M' variant with interchangeable parts for turning into a few other kinds we can use, fitted with the Rockwell Collins Common Avionics Arch System. I think it can complement both the Apache and Chinook since it sits in-between both roles and can be used in a dedicated civilian application later.
No timetable. Since AD the modeller has had to leave town due to flooding there's little to no chance of it happening even as a background prop atm.
You could make a M variant DAP. That would fit more since its an attack -60.
Yes that was the idea, it wouldn't take much modification to shake that out or offer it as a configuration choice between MH-60 and AH-60. I'm hoping we'll have a more modular system for creating cockpit instruments in place by then.
