Does anyone know, or where the port number is? I searched in the game directory but could not find.

Thanks!

Hi man,

You know I am not sure either but, you may want to try opening port 2300 through to 2400, these are the standard directx7 network gaming ports I believe.

Never played this multiplayer before so I cant give you a definate answer.. but I didnt want you to be left unanswered!

Cheers

Re: Port Number?? - 06/01/07 02:40 PM

no chance - yesterday, i tried MP with a friend. we tested the old ports of EECH, didn't worked. it works, if u take your IP into the DMZ, otherwise we found no way.

btw, on http://www.eech2.com u find the IP of the G2 games dedicated server. around 6 online skirmishes and 3 campaigns are available.

if you play with a direct connection (so one of you is the host), TURN DOWN THE SETTINGS - otherwise, as soon as you enter a area with trees around, u play with 5fps or less LOL.

besides that, the MP part seems to work. we both didn't found a possibility to set some settings, so standard is 4 players max...

Re: Port Number?? - 06/23/07 10:53 PM

I opened just about every port posible. But it's not consistant. Some friends can get into my server and some can't. And sometimes, the same person that was able to get in on day, but not able to get into server the next day. We are all same game compatble.

Is there something that I'm missing....or something in the eech config file that need further editing?? Or is it just another glich? \:\(

The day they cant get in, is your server in "green" when they attempt to join? or do they get another failed connection error?

It's in the green....attempt to join...30 secs later...failed connection error...hit cancel...and...crash to desktop.....that's about it

Is your server the same PC you are flying on? and ask your friends not to try and join all at the same time. If they have a failed connection, ask them to rename their pilot, then attempt to join again. Try loading the same map they successfully joined in the past and try again.

Peterthehatch

I had the same problem as you. All I did was go to the application sharing page, there is a drop down box which mine begins with "Age of Empires"... I dropped the box & highlighted EE2, left the "log box" option unchecked then clicked the "Add" button to the side.

EE2 then appeared in a line above the drop box. I then started EE2 and the multiplayer options just appeared.

My port options were all identical to yours.

Hope this helps.

Petethehatch, I'm afraid I do not see your image, just a red cross.
On the Game & Application Sharing page - Assigned Games & Applications I do have a name under the device column:

Game or Application................ Device........ Log
ABC (Another Bittorent Client)... Tone-PCI..... Off.... Edit Unassign
enemy engaged 2..................... Tone-PCI.... Off... Edit Unassign

I have not tried LAN or hosting, only the EE2 server which seems to work fine.

Re: Port Number?? - 07/17/07 05:13 PM

Peter
As for the ports on the Hub, they appear as follows:

How do you know if other players are online?

I think more than 1 player is shown. On the following screen shot there are 2 players shown:

Yes, TONE_PCI is the name of my machine. It appears as follows:

Finally I have only used TCP/IP internet connections to run multiplayer and have never used LAN so I am not sure if the ports on screenshot 1 are for that. Given that a LAN connection suggests some sort of direct wired (or wireless) connection in a single network then I would not have thought the ports came into it - but I really know nothing about that side of things.
